I wanted to read all the other posts before I posted - but I have no need to be embarrassed!!!!
I wash probably every 3-4 days. Then I throw it strait in the dryer (even if it's a sunny day). All the clean clothes then sit in baskets for about 3 days before I can be bothered folding it and putting it away.
I really HATE housework!
PS- I wash sheets around every 2 weeks and towels after 2-3 showers except for the one that goes on the floor - it gets soaked every day
Depends what else I'm doing. When I'm at home on weekends (I work Mon-Fri) I try to get at least 3 loads done. While I was on holidays I think I was doing about 4-6 loads a day.
...and winter can mean more loads too... more clothes more washing. Oh and illness... nothing like a bout of gastro to turn your house into a Chinese laundry within minutes!!!
Yep, that's the key Jodie... gotta have a good sized machine if you have kids... I'm already looking forward to upgrading to an 8kg one! What size is yours?
OMG I'm scared if this is what I'm in for, I would never keep up!! lol.
I only need to was once a week with the two of us at the moment!! lol. I wouldn't fill the washing machine up otherwise!
I currently wash clothes twice a week and also a load of towels and load of sheets on the weekend.
So 4 times a week!
We just got a dryer as a christmas present so I am looking forward to ahving that for when baby comes along. Although I am petrified of using the dryer as when we used to have one (2.5 yrs ago) i would find it would shrink or mis-shape my clothes.
The news tonight said Victorian water prices are set to sky rocket in the next 6 months.... meaning that some average bills could increase (per annum) by 50% I *think* that's how it will work. Yikes!!!
We rent and I think I'm going to have to put in a request for a water tank if our owner wants us to keep her garden green... I know we are legally bound to water it... but geeze...
Interesting to sticky beak at what everyone else does... glad to see that I'm not the only one with so much washing too and also very jealous of those that only need to wash every few days. I have just bought a 7kg front loader/dryer combo and I love it so much, especially that the water is uses is so much less than the huge top loader I had.
I really think that the problem is the kids and the pool - every swim = a new outfit and a new towel. Doesn't make any difference if I hide the towels, they just go and use ours or even worse, the washing line is in the pool area and has towels on it all the time so they use them too. I detest the towel usage and when the older 3 kiddies are at their dad's I only wash them every 2nd day or so.
There are 5 of us and I do a load a day, 5 days a week.
I set the machine in the evening and it turns itself on at night, so it is on the off peak rate. We have a large front loader (10kg) so it really does do the job.
The laundry is plumbed as grey water, so the water from the washing machine automatically goes out onto the garden, which is another good reason for me to wash at night.
I am another who keeps towels going. The kids have bath towel each a week, as do DH and I. Sheets get changed once a week.
I don't wash on Friday or Sat nights........then there is nothing to be hung/dried/folded over the weekend. Especially over summer when the kids are in and out of the pool, the BBQ is on.......the lawn is left enencumbered by washing!
You know i have never really kept track of how much washing i do but i would say i do a load a day and on the weekends maybe 2 or 3. But thats normal clothes - DH's work clothes get washed in a seperate machine with no other clothes. I was all DD's clothes on a gentle cycle and so through in my underwear at the same time and if the load isnt big enough then i just put more clothes and they get a gentle wash too.
towels and sheets get done once a week. Due to the lack of room in my place I only have one set of sheets and two towels for each of us so there are none extra laying around....and it makes sure i make the bed!
I average 10 loads a week. That's with 2 adults and a toddler, using cloth nappies. And DH is a tradie who gets filthy, so I was his work clothes seperately.
With our new arrival I think our washing has gone from 8 a week to 10 a week now I like the idea of washing at night off peak, when are these off peak times?
