I actually was quite proud in the fact that I did a wall today (The wall near the dining room seems to be a splashback from when the kids eat at the table *shudders* But it's all clean now, other then that I (and as i look around at my walls) they do need a clean but i CBF.

And windows - No one really does that do they?!?!?!

i look forward to when i live in a rental, that has WASHABLE PAINT on the walls. It's so disheartening, when you go to wash a wall (when there has been an accident), and the paint comes away as well.

Poorly ventilated houses and vapourisers and mould - there's an argument for wall washing that is very valid and not at all OCD.

i think most people don't NEED to clean their walls, because their homes are well ventilated, their dining tables are not near walls, and their walls have washable paint on them.

Walls are something you do, when it's apparent they need doing - to me. Whereas, things like light switches, door knobs, that get touched all the time - those i see as normal things to give a clean. But we're all different, if it makes you feel better Yas, that is your thing, who am i to tell you different. But i am guessing you have washable paint on your walls.

I would go over mine, from about half way up to the floor once a month with Jif and a damp cloth. We have wash 'n' wear paint. I have not done it in forever, and you can tell !! My walls are feral at the moment.

I am glad to read that there aren't lot's of wall cleaners cause I was worried lol only clean walls in rentals or for painting.

Could you try using a wipe? to spot clean with? they are great lol

Sopdet - some RE/owners will let you paint the walls... some even let you take the cost of the paint off the rent. If you are looking at staying there for a reasonable amount of time it could be worth considering asking

I think cleaning the walls, would constitute the sort of thing, your doctors would have kittens about, if they knew you were even THINKING about doing this type of work.
If you were 42 weeks pregnant, and needed to bring on labour, hell yes.
But with your health and recent scare - hell no!

If it really upsets you, pay a cleaner to do it.
But don't put your pregnancy at risk, over it.

when they're dirty or moldy I spot clean.

I clean the area around door handles and light switches with cream cleanser perhaps once a year.

otherwise, the air cleans them, and I wouldn't want to interfere.

I wish i could repaint too- the walls are awful

I don't clean windows, so i'm not a total weirdo.

    I don't do windows ever!

I wish we had washable paint- i don't think it is. You really wouldn't be able to tell anyway, the walls are really quite damaged and in desperate need of a paint job. I clean door knobs, light switches and handrails all the time. Im glad im not the only one!

I would go over mine, from about half way up to the floor once a month with Jif and a damp cloth. We have wash 'n' wear paint. I have not done it in forever, and you can tell !! My walls are feral at the moment.
I only do it from half way up to the floor cause my son can't reach any higher than that.

I would be OC about it too (even more so ) if we lived in a new house! My DF loved this thread when i told him about it (i baited him last night telling him that i would start a thread on BB and see what everyone else does).

I think i'll just spot clean, and least for now...

I don't really have a good defence except to say that i did sit down on the stairs while i was cleaning the walls so i didn't hurt me. I sat on a chair while i did downstairs as well, i was careful. xxx

I know, i was really careful when i cleaned. I have minimum 3 hours rest a day and i can't overdo it physically. I think i will just leave cleaning like that till after bubba- i am hiring a cleaner in the first few weeks i think... xx

Yas- funny you should mention cleaning walls, I have been looking at mine for the last week thinking I should do them. I can be a little OCD with cleaning so I have been distracting myself. Now I know I'm not the only one I will be doing them. Not every week though.

My DH cleans them and my windows about every 6 months.
The easiest way to clean a wall- is to use a window washing thingy- you know the one with the sponge on one side and the squeegee on the other? The name escapes me at the moment.....
We work in the cleaning industry, this way is more effective and less time consuming.

My walls are ok- don't get me started on doors!
How hard is it to use a door handle?
Apparently extremely hard in this household!!!

I mainly do the door frames.... Does that count? Maybe once a month..... Big hairy pooch makes them dirty as he walks past.
