    With regard to the smell, you could try when you dissolve it before adding it to the was next time, adding a couple of drops of essential oil (probably lavender would be best)


    Edited to add: I wonder if anyone knows how much lux to use in a front loader?

    From other threads I have read its not suitable for front loaders which is why I trialed it in my old washing machine that we use for woolens.

    If you need to soften your water in the front loader try some vinegar (yes it works) or some Lectric soda just a teaspoon dissolved will be enough.

    I should mention I had dissolved the Lux flakes first I tend to do this with everything when using the old machine because its not so great these days.

    Ok, I'll keep using my vinegar then - I just thought if there was something that made things even softer I'd try that.
