My name is Kat, and if you want things dusted then turn up on Christmas day and you might.. I said might... be lucky.

I can still see an ant trail on the wall that my computer sits against from 2 maybe 3 summers ago. The wall is so dusty that the ants walking made a clean path. My excuse for not dusting is that I am allergic to furniture polish (true). Doesn't matter that you can dust without chemicals LOL.

If I do have the energy to clean up, I then get the "why do I bother" when the kids come home. I do try to do my dishes every night, but other stuff inc floors ... meh

My name's Kaz and I'm a depressed housekeeper with m/s.

My current excuse is that bending over sends off the nausea ... honest! I do plan to clean the ensuite this weekend though ...

*snigger* this thread is right up my alley...

hi, my name is Boobaloo, and i dread the thought of people just 'dropping in' for a visit, especially anyone in my family as they are all anal-retentives about cleaning.

my house is a $hit-fight at the moment, and i just cannot be arsed doing anything, i hate mess, but am incredibly lazy about doing anything about it. i think it comes down to the whole 'why should i bother, when my kids are messy buggers who will untidy it behind me...'

the only time my house gets a reallllllyyy big clean is when my mum is coming to visit, and she's in afghanistan, so at least she can't surprise me... but i live in fear anyway

i think dp is finally getting a bit fed up though...

Oooh, finally a place where I don't have to pretend I'm a neat freak!!

I don't often get drop in visitors, so people who come to my house may think it's a lovely, clean home, ha ha how I fooled them lol.

I make sure the bathrooms and floors are done every 2-3 weeks, and the dishes are done at least every 2nd day lol.

But apart from that, my place is a mess. There are toys and clothes all over the house, it's very messy. I put it down to hating the place we live in, it's awful, however our house is currently being built and I have promised myself to be a much better house keeper when we move in, it'll be mine and it'll be all new and easier (hopefully!) to maintain.

My name is Anna and Im a mess mover. My house hasnt had the floors mopped in months, the bathroom has only been given a quick wipe over and I always have a pile of (clean) washing lurking in my loungeroom. Sometimes its even folded! I just move mess from one spot to another, less obvious, spot.

And I dont care because I have 3 feral children and a lazy husband who destroy all my (hard) work so Ive officially given in to the masses

My name is Rowellen & I am also a binge cleaner.

The floors only get done because DH does them. I blame the vacuum cleaner. It's a commercial back-pack type vac & I hate it. So I don't touch it lol!

I try to do the dishes every night. & the last few weeks it's been working to the point where DH even does them sometimes too! But otherwise, we live in a disaster zone.

I had a big binge yesterday. My mum kidnapped DS for the day so I did lots of things I'd been putting off. I sorted out his baby toys, cleaned the bathroom, did the dishes & made dinner, then started on our back room. Where I promptly felt overwhelmed and just looked at the mess for about 20 minutes before doing nothing else for the rest of the afternoon. DH vac'd & mopped the floors. DS had a great time at his grandma's & he came home to a cleanish house. It might last for a day or two. Then we'll just have to wait for the next binge in 3 or 4 months time lol!

Oh you girls have NO IDEA how much I love you all right now. I'm usually more of a lurker but this thread made me grin so much I just had to post...

My name is Kat and today I cannot see my kitchen bench, nor my bedroom floor. I've always been pretty messy and lazy and it's embarrassed me. I feel like it is a sign that I somehow can't manage life or being an adult (a message with a whole lot of yucky family history behind it) and I seriously cringe and want to hide if anyone ever drops in on me. How is it that I can get a postgrad degree, manage a pretty full-on job etc. but I still take my clothes off and just dump them on the pile on my floor 'till I eventually run out of undies and have to chuck said pile in the washing machine??? Part of me is still 15!! Since I've become a Mum it's so much worse. Even less time and energy to do the bare minimum of stuff I used to do, and now added pressure on myself with the idea that if I were a really good mum I'd be better at 'keeping house'.

Now I see that a whole lot of women who I respect and admire (yes, I'm pretty quiet in here but I do read lots of your posts) live a bit like me!!! Yaaaaaaaaayyy. Lets all lie down on our loungeroom floors and make 'snow angels' out of the junk and toys to celebrate!!

What a great idea!!!!! I have piles of clean folded clothes in baskets around my bedroom ... I keep saying that I want to empty out all the non-fitting clothes ... but it never happens.

My name is Heather...and I just don't see the point!!

I don't iron, never have. My DH does the vacuuming as I don't see the point when not 5mins later it needs doing again.
Mmmmm, generally my as my thingy says, my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy. Live and die by that
Get the basics done and that's about it really.

Amen, sister!! I am FOREVER announcing to DH that there's just NO POINT, if I mop the floors so they sparkle, the kids come out five minutes later and spread toys, dirty clothes, half-chewed food and bits of dirt everywhere, the cats and dog spread their hair around; they splash around in the bath so the floor gets filthy again and DH can't seem to aim the toothpaste flecks downward so the vanity gets filthy; if I scrub the kitchen benchtops I'm just going to see a clean space as an opportunity to cook something else and make more mess to wipe up... I spend all day cleaning and in two minutes it's trashed! Why bother?! I could spend those wasted hours doing something FUN instead

    OMG i feel normal!!!!

my name is sam and im a lazy thing when it comes to housework....

i really cant see the point in mopping weekly or even more often when the floor boards still look shiney from 4 weeks ago....
why vacum the carpet when the dogs are going to put more hair on there anyway??(this WILL change when worm comes!!)
why wash 2 plates, 2 knifes, 2 forks, 2 glassed and a pot and oven tray every night when i can delay it for 3 days and not waste water????

yep housework is over rated and no one ever appreciated it so why bother?!?!?!?!

    love this thread!!!

Hi, my name is Laura and i can't remember how many months since my house has had a good clean.

I haven't seen the floor in our bedroom for 6+ months. My bathroom is barely passable and my floors are hideous.

I've been sick for over 2 weeks now and just can't rummage up any energy to get to it. And TBH i really jsut don't care enough to get myself stressed out about it. It is somewhat annoying knwoing where all my clothes are though.

    Over and out

Im hoping when i finish work i will have more time/energy to keep on top of things...right?
