I just posted a Tweet telling myself to go and put on an apron and get to work!!! So I'm wearing my fast fading vintage fabric apron... and I promptly shined my sink LOL Now I'm off to hang the washing! I definately feel more motivated in an apron.

My Miffy apron arrived in the post on Tuesday of last week,and i have worn it every day since. It is gorgeous.It is a half apron.I would love a skirt in the same fabric! It needs a wash so I will have to part with it tomorrow. Damn.

Ok girls - so long as you promise not to go crazy...google tipnut and apron patterns...

it is a whole collection of patterns to make your own aprons. And they are so easy - all you have to do is find the perfect fabric.

I am now the proud owner of a super cute apron! I got it at a fete this morning... handmade, bright lemon yellow with a pocket on one side and hand painted flower picture in the middle. So cute! and only 6 bucks! Now I'm motivated to start baking **off to make some cupcakes**

Leasha: ooooh I love the Obsidian pattern!!! It looks nice around the waist... most aprons are pretty much straight up and down... that pattern would be very flattering indeed!

I forgot to add that HERE is a photo of the apron Lorelle (Smiles4u) sent me as part of a kitchen pack for my birthday. It has a pocket in front that you can't see very easily. I find this one very easy just to wear around the house all day. The pockets are handy for popping things like pegs etc that I find lying around the house. Thanks again Lorelle!

Oh that is such a cute red apron!!! Love it! Not sure if I'm converted to the idea of half aprons though........with a toddler, I find it best if as much of me is covered as possible

I know what you mean Janie... although a halfie is a good addition to the collection... I can pop that one on and have the cue that I am in work mode but not feel overly aware of it. A bit like the Fly-Lady notion of putting on lace up shoes to help you stay in work mode IYKWIM?

after reading this thred i want a new apron! the only one i have is an old art one which has my name written in paint on it

i've had a quick look at some of the Op shops near my place and didnt find any

where would i find a simple pattern to try and make one? is there any shops that sell nice ones (and not the ones with " lodon, paris, tokyo, frankston, blahblahblah" on them) around at all?
if i was to make one whats a good matiral to make the ties out of (i've started to de-thred my art arpron one..)

Apron ties: I use cotton webbing tape. It comes in various widths and sold at most fabric stores.

Today I discovered the most amazing retro fabric shop!!! it's called Flashback and it's on High Street Westgarth. I'm going to make my next apron from fabric bought at this shop!

Bath know's i'm not an apron person, hee hee ... does look like something that needs pegs in it heading down to the clothesline rather than near a stove

Hey, Bath (i'm no sewing person here) but i'm on the look out for Summer dresses for DD that are made with retro fabric, especially vintage 50's & 60's.

Does the fabric shop happen to sell any already sewn clothing items ??

Bath, was thinking of you when at a market on my recent Qld Holiday saw the prettiest shabby chic full-apron even had a corsage on it, i even dodged a huge crowd of shoppers to get to it to see what the label/brand was ... and do you think i can remember it now to tell you ... augh could kick myself

(Oh, well in our 40's now can't be expected to remember much these days, LOL

)

Hmmm

if it had a fabric corsage then it could have been a Jessie Steele apron...I think she makes them with those. Not keen on a corsage... but love most things retro

I'll have a proper look at this shop when I'm kid-free to see if they sell nice dress fabric for your DD... from what I could see they mainly stocked fabrics for home furnishings... they also had retro wallpaper!

Bath- Theres a gorgeous apron that i keep seeing in a window shop in Drouin and every time i see it, i think of you! I think i just may have to buy it for you and send it on up!!

It's sooooo gorgeous..... Hmmmmm, maybe i should buy 2!
