    or get an orange & some cloves, stick the cloves into the orange so it is covered, hang that up in the wardrobe

    I'd try airing it out, on a breezy dry day, open the empty wardrobe, open the windows and close the door, let it air for a few hours, then wipe it down with some essential oil (eucalyptus or tea tree or lavender), let it air for an hour or so more (to allow the essential oil smell to lessen), then have some bicarb in its box in there.
