Tell me about your Vaccum cleaner

So after my Vaccum cleaner decided to bite me (gave me a zap) yesterday I have decided its time to put the old girl out of her misery and get a new one. While I would love to get a Dyson its a little out of our price range.

I dont know much about vaccs so am I better to go bagless? I have cats so it needs to be one that can handle cat fur.

So hit me with any recommendations.. or stay the hell away froms. Please

Dyson barrel with seperate floor and carpet tools - great! No bags and no filters to buy (you just pull it out and wash it).

I was a diehard Dyson fan. Never thought I'd go back. Until mine bit the dust and I asked the salesperson if there was anything comparable.

I ended up with a new bagless Elextrolux. Half the price. Power is the same if not better. Actually the power is adjustable to you use what you need. The adjustable power also means you can adjust the noise.
Tools are the same (well it's a three in one tool so only one extra to cart around). Doesn't fold up as compactly, but I can live with that.

I have a Niflisk King... 9years old and still going strong! It has lots of filters for asthma (which is good for DH) and I had 2 cats (one being a Chinchilla Persian so LOTS of hair) and it handled it well.
Power and suction are awesome, and mum is always borrowing mine. Not sure how $$ they are, ours was around $600 but as I said that was a few years ago now

I have an electrolux and it is bloomin fantastic! My bestie has a dyson and mine poos all over hers! Haha! She is jealous of mine! Seriously it's a brilliant vacuum. So easy to use.
I definately don't recommend electrolux's washing machines but their vacuums get a big thumbs up!

Opposite with me. My electrolux vacuum blew up after 6 months and I had hell trying to get it replaced under warranty. Second one blew up 6 months after first. Electrolux washing machine is freaking awesome and washes clothes so beautifully. Even the super, super filthy DD's been playing in the red dirt stuff has never needed to be rewashed!

My last one was an Electrolux and it lasted me 10 years. Thanks guys time to try and talk DH into a Dyson

we went to harvey norman, said we only wanted to spend $400, the dyson was advertised for i think for around $650 and he gave it to us for $400! i love my dyson, will never go back Lol. shop around, im sure you can get one for the price you're willing to spend

We got a vac from Aldi (no idea on the brand). Looks pretty close to a dyson and is the best vac I've ever owned. Picks up everything! Bagless too.
It was $99

I have an electorlux too but borrowed my neighbours Dyson & thought it was good too

I have a Meile upright and it is fantastic, a little pricey though. Ours was a gift and it topped the Dyson's I trialled, but then again alot of folks swear by Dyson. Our vac is sooooo flexible for an upright.

In a big reader of Choice magazine that rates them all. Generally speaking, Miele and Dyson brand vacs rate quite well.

I have a Miele (red one, cost me 299 on special) and I love it.

Our little yellow Dyson is a dream. It was less than $400. (can't remember exactly)

I love it. I've posted about it before. I think in those posts i said i loved it. Not sure my exact words were though.

I do love it. Did i say it was yellow? The colour is immaterial. I love it.

I would suggest you stay the hell away from ... my Dyson. Or i'll find you and steal it back.

I thought of naming DS1 Dyson, but i thought that was cruel, so I used it for his middle name.

No, just joking about the name thing, but i do love my Dyson. It's bagless (soooo easy) and it did wonders on dog hair. I think it'd be fine on cat hair too. And it was not so expensive when you think it doesn't cost anything for bags and it hasn't needed replacing like maybe a cheaper one would.
