    Waaaaaa washing machine recommendations please

This evening an important member of our household passed away. He had spent the day getting through basket after basket of washing but sadly on the last load of towels something broke and now the drum is pretty much sitting on the floor. Google indicated repair would be very costly.

So I need something that can fill the void in my heart (laundry) . We are a family of seven and I wash at least two loads a day and five to six on catch up days like today.

I would like to sick with a front loader but could be swayed for the right machine. So hit me

We have a front loader Bosch, still going strong and have a dryer by them as well, no complaints at all!

I have a top loader LG. It has no agitator in the middle so performs like a front loader except I have the luxury of adding to the wash once started when I find that stray sock lying on the floor ) mine is 8kg also....

i also have a lg top loader without the agitator and love it. it also has fuzzy logic so will only use as much water as it needs.

i am tempted to go back to a top loader. I have had the FL only 3 & half years so the thought of spending on something that will die again in that time is not a good

I love my front loader. It's a Bosch and top of the range.

The best thing about it is that it only uses 56L per wash. When you do loads of washing (pardon the pun) the water adds up.

I'd go with the largest and most water and elec efficient front loader you can afford.

We would never go back on our Miele. It might be more expensive, but it's expected to last longer.

I've heard good things about Bosch too.

Front loaders are usually better for water usage and gentler on clothes. Choice is good for info, but they won't cover every brand.

I've had a bosche for 3.5 years and was loving it but in the last few week we have had nothing but trouble with it. When it does the spin it's spinning about 2.5x faster than it should be I also find I have a lot of trouble with the seals in it.

I have had a top loading Fisher and Paykel for 11 years now and love it. No problems with it at all and it is still going strong. It would take a lot to erpsuade me to go front loader especially as all my friends tell me their wash cycles go for a lot longer.

Another lover of fisher and paykel here. Our current one I havehad 8 years and the one before that was about 15 years old when it died. I would buy another one.....love the look of the agitator free top loading one.

I had a top loader for years before I went the front loader.

My full wash cycle on the FL is 57 minutes and was 1.5 hrs on the top loader.
