I usually wash my wool one in the bath or in the paddling pool outside in summer. Then I put it on the lattice and hose it off (rinse), but you're right i only do it when it's hot enough to dry reasonably quickly. Otherwise dry cleaning?

If it doesn't wash in the machine just take it to the laundromat, it's cheap and easy. Otherwise the old fashioned way of washing in the bath works, you just make sure after rinsing you step on it to get all the water out. I find this works best so it's not too heavy to carry and dries quicker.
