What are these floaties in the kettle??? driving me crazy

Usually older kettles get a build up of limescale, requiring you to descale them using methods such as vinegar or a descaling solution. This usually looks like little whitish flaky floaties in the kettle.

However.. this doesn't usually happen with new kettles.. more so older ones (ie at least a few months old)?

I know you can prevent limescale build up by not leaving your kettle sitting with water in it.. ie empty completely after every use. Maybe it's happened sooner if you have had water sitting in it alot?

I always leave my kettle with water in it.
It is literally about 3 weeks old.

so i will boil some vinegar (i just got back from the shops doh!!) and then remember to empty it each night??

Yeah, I was going to say the limescale too. Strange thats a new one has floaties. Can you take it back? 3 weeks isn't long...
