well after much searching, I finally found the pictures Gargy.. its great to finally put a face to the name! Looks like the catch up was fun!

Blizz - I understand what you mean, I've got a few books on pregnancy and I've got my nose stuck in them. I'm also giong to bed early.

Had an issue today at work with one of the male managers who told me that he didnt' want me to go on a training course because I'd be taking extended leave soon (that was his reason). So I had to drag out the anti-discrimination stuff in our workplace agreement and show him the light - DH thought I'd handled it very bluntly and a bit rough - but I've tried to talk to this guy gently and nicely and he just doesn't get it, so I decided I would adopt a 'blokey' approach - upfront and ballsy. It worked and I guess I won't be getting any christmas cards from this guy but I don't really care and as a manager he should know better and not have to rely on junior staff to point out how many feet he has put in his own mouth!! **sigh** men!!!!

    Hi Everyone

Had our next appointment today with FS... So our next step is I am going on an IVF cycle. Should start the spray about 18th August! We have decided we are going to search DH for sperm (this will be very unpleasant for DH) FS has said the chances are very unlikely... but we want to know we have done everything we can. So they will time the egg pick up with DH's operation and if they find nothing from DH then we use back up donor sperm (we have chosen our donor).
FS recommended that I have 2 weeks off about half way through the cycle & DH would need to have at least a week after his operation (DH & I both have 3 weeks off in September so that works out really well!)
It is going to be an exciting & scary journey!!!

Tarkine - How are you feeling? Have you had any morning sickness? Hope your feeling ok!

Did anyone do acupuncture & take chinese herbs whilst undergoing IVF? How far into the cycle do you normally start this? I want to do it so might start researching some clinics.

Joy - absolutely no morning sickness - just some intolerances to some food. Good luck on your IVF journey. That pretty much sounds like what we did, although DH did two Surgical sperm collections over a couple of months as the FS was being very careful - just in case any of the littlies were hiding somewhere.
Can't help on the accupuncture front.

    Hi Tarkine

That's great that you have no morning sickness!! I am looking forward to getting started on our journey!!
Was your DH's 'condition' diagnosed as anything? My DH's 'condition' is called Sertoli Cell Only Sydrome. He doesn't have cells to produce sperm... just Sertoli Cells.
Are you guys going to find out if your having a boy or girl? Do you mind what you have? I cant wait to be pregnant.... I think it's going to be an amazing experience!!

Joy, DH had bladder problems when he was younger, so had several surgeries in the area. On top of this, he is on two anti-rejection drugs for a kidney transplant he had in 1997. When the Dr's looked at his medications list, they all went "well we don't expect to find anything".

We aren't going to find out the sex. We want it to be a surprise - I actually prefer the neutral colours (yellows and greens).

I'm making the most of each day that I'm pregnant, knowing what a blessing and miracle it is to have a little bubs inside.

I went around the local hospitals birth centre today - got a really good feeling about it and would love to have bubs there - one on one with a midwife, all the specialists you could ever want on hand (neonatal drs only 60 seconds away). A double bed, so DH and I could cuddle with bubs, and enough room for the MIL to be come into the room. The best thing for me was that there was a huge sliding door that could be opened to get fresh air into the room, and your own private courtyard. With bubs due in February - it would be perfect weather to have the door open and fresh air coming in (although knowing my luck bubs will arrive on the coldest feb night since records began).

    Hi all

Joy, my fella has azoospermia which means that he just doesnt produce sperm, and the drs dont know why. He also had the TESA to find out if there was anything at all, but unfortunately nothing. It was an extremely difficult time for us - but especially for him.
Anyways, all is forgotten now, because I am pleased to announce that we had our BT today and finally have a

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention Joy that I did accupuncture for the first time this cycle and my accupuncturist has just given me some herbs now that we have a positive. Also just before this cycle, my dr did lots of tests to find out why the embies were not taking. She thought the fact that I had inherited a gene that stopped me from effectively absorbing folate may be significant - so she prescribed me megafol. Not sure if this is your situation, but it may be of interest.

Thankyou my lovelies! Still quite hard to believe as we've been through so much to get here. As we've previously had one false positive before - HCG got to 15 and then fell, it will be much less surreal after BT tomorrow.

    Hi Venus

Congratulations on your BFP... that is great news!! Can I ask how far into the IVF cylce did you start accupuncture?

I also have a question for all of you who have undergone IVF.. the FS said that the cycle takes about 5 weeks... is that 5 weeks from when you start the nasal spray to when you have the embryo transferred? Or is it normally 5 weeks of hormones & drugs and then you have the transfer? Just trying to work out the timeline of how things are going to happen! The FS did tell us but have kinda forgotten!!

    Thanks everyone

Joy, if I remember correctly, I rang them on the first day of my period (11th April) then nothing happened for 10-13ish days, then I started nasal spray for about 2-3ish weeks, injections for 10ish days, trigger, then 37 hours later the EPU, so 5 weeks from start to finish is about right.

So we had EPU on the 26th May (monday) and transfer on the Saturday of a blastie

Gotta go DH is lurking and looking for food!!

Joy, I started accupuncture when I started syranel, so approx 3 weeks before transfer. I did one session a week. First attendance was $110, then every subsequent visit was
$ 65. You dont get much back from private health insurance - but even if I had not got a BFP I still would have done it next cycle. Its important that you find an understanding person to do it - makes all the difference.

AFM - all is well. HCG rising - 422 at day 12 days after transfer.

    Hi Tarkine

Thanks for your reply! My FS said to see her on the 21st day of my cycle... maybe that's too late? I might call them tomorrow to check if we need to go earlier. DH & I have holidays booked for September so want to try get the timing right! I dont want to miss a cycle cos we started too late!!

    Hi Venus

The fertility clinic we are going to has accupuncture places they recommend - so that's good they should understand our situation! It's great that everything is going well for you!!
