Hi all
Just giving you a quick update on things! We had our FET today... all went well. They only had to thaw 1 embie and during the thaw it started growing a little more! So it was a 9 cell that was transferred. Had an acupuncture session straight after and now just chillin on the sofa for the evening :) Hopefully I will keep calm & relaxed during this TWW!
Brilliant news Joy! Hope everything goes well!
goodluck Joy...put your feet up and take it easy hon
Good Luck Joy!
Blizz - I hear you on the DH front - mine has been interstate for 6 of the last 8 weeks - am over seeing him leaving on a jet plane, the flight delays etc.. I guess that's what happens when your employer is 1500km away though..not sure what we are going to do when bubs arrives - there is his mum who lives about 30minutes away but she's made it quite clear that while she loves her grandchildren, that she has her own life, so I'll be pretty much it (unless there is a cyclone or some other extreme event).
hey Tarkine, I'll come over and baby sit for you any time hon, that is if you trust some crazy lady you met on the internet??? and besides Paige LOVES babies.
I am hearing you, i am lucky cause I have family here but ....i really want my mum!!! but due to circumstances beyond her and my control it is not to be.
Well I need to toddle off to bed so I don't get caught out with no sleep now that I can't send DH to DD when she cries, I have to try to juggle both of them..(already finding it a little challenging)
blizz.. more than welcome to come on over and baby sit - must be hard with two littles and DH away - money is such a sucky thing!!
Not exactly the same situation but it got me thinking ... A number of my recipient families gave birth to twins. I expect it is a lot of work to look after twins as opposed to a single child. Would this make the experience potentially stressful/bad for new families?
I don't really know SD,
as much as I whinge I really wouldn't have it any other way, it is just the settling in factor that I find a little challenging and the fact that Paige has chosen this week to start the jealous older sister missing out on attention thing!!!!, when DH is home it is easy to hand off the bubba and spend time with DD, but on my own I can't really give her the quality time she needs with bubba screaming out for attention (often quite loudly)
I do take my hat of to mums of twins I don't know how they do it but as for the adding of stress when you get two instead of one all I can think of is that most people in our position would be absolutely honoured to have even one let alone two bubbas so I guess the initial shock would be replaced with excitement fairly quickly...the financial issue I am not sure about either as I have to work in some form or another anyway, the bonus given by the government would go a long way to helping set up the expensive items of twins I would think ie, two cots, big prams, zillions of clothes and nappies.
I am glad I am not having to be a single mum to twins with DH away though I really would go insane!!!
SD - really interesting question.
For myself I would be absolutely delighted to have twins. I would be absolutely delighted to have one baby - or even siblings. I'd say most people receiving donations feel the same way.
Sometimes, yes, having a baby takes its toll on marriages, and on mental health. There are many examples of this on our forum.
However for most people, although times get tough, they manage to battle through. I know this from my mother's situation - she had 5 children, and although she loved us dearly there were times she would have happily traded us to the pixies!
I think the other issue is that the networks that my mother had (ie having her mother living in the next suburb) are not available to as many people these days. My mother has also made it very clear that she has raised her own children - she will not be available to raise mine.
Hey Blizz aka crazy lady on the internet! How are you doing today? Hope its less stressful with Angus and Paige.
Joy - how are you doing?
Tarkine :hello:
:hello: to everyone else!
Got some good news today - I've been told which school I'm going to. I gave them a call today and I'll be meeting with them next week. Looking forward to it!
SD2001 - I would have just gone with the flow as I do with all things in my life if I had been told I was having twins - I know there was the case in the ACT a few years ago where a couple only wanted one, but got two and went to court over it.
I watch jon and kate plus 8 on Oprah a few months back, and Kate told of the devastation they both felt when they went for the first ultrasound (after having twins) to find out there were 7 babies in her womb - 6 survived and she found the first 1 quite a trial. She was on fertility drugs and they had only wanted to have one -but were given 6. They were also offered the choice of having selective reduction but refused.
Blizz - I love you, you crazy women on the internet!! (although I think that should be my title :))
Gargy - yah on hearing about the new school. it all works out for you sweetie
DH came home with the news that its not a case of if the company he works for goes bust, its a case of when. Will know more monday, but I think DH might be a stay at home dad for a bit :o Hope he's good with nappies
Hi all,
well one more night to go till DH is home again....yay!!!
I am feeling a little better tonight, I cheated, I had a night off Angus's 'witching hour' (more like hours!!!) by lobbing on my sil's doorstep last night, they cooked us tea and entertained and wore out Paige and passed around Angus between his aunt, Uncle and three cousins which kept him happy till 9 o'clock so I basically just had to come home and put them both in to bed:lol::lol::lol:.
did a similar thing today and visited my youngest brother and his family and he entertained Paige and she played with her youngest cousin and got to check out the chooks helping to feed them and to collect the eggs (wasn't keen on patting them) they are the tamest chooks I think I've seen
so I think I'll stay sane this time around!!!!
though this mornings visit was almost a panicked visit so I could at least get a shower and bath Paige I just haven't been able to juggle the bathing thing for both children yet.
but I did manage to get us both clean before we headed out the door (Angus's turn is earmarked for tomorrow morning)
Gargy, glad to hear you know about your new school, how exciting, it's got to be an omen for a fresh start in 2009 I am sure of it!!!
Tarkine, wow I hope all is OK for you both...as for dirty nappies...my guess is he will learn pretty quickly:lol::lol::lol:
love to everyone else I need to go and poke Angus he's been asleep since 4pm I think i might be in for a long night, if he is kind to his mumma I may be back later if I don't reappear you can bet that he hasn't been kind to me!!!!
Blizz,
Good on you - getting out and about and visiting people. And the bypassing of witching hour is an added bonus! ;)
Tarkine,
My heart goes out to you having been through the whole pain of retrenchment - both myself and DH. Actually the retrenchment sword of Damascus just missed DH this year again. I hope your DH either finds a job really soon or enjoys being a SAHD.
As for myself - had a great couple of days! Firstly we got to see our gorgeous godchild when we caught up with our friends on Saturday night.
Then today we went out with more friends including our donor. It was a lot of fun!
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
PS - I'm also liking my new avie!!
Hi all,
not staying for long as I am feeling totally exhausted
Gargy, I love the new avvie you look georgeous and very festive
the witching hour finally got to me so now that I have my little charges in bed i am off to lick my wounds (see blog https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...melt-down.html for details) I am not sure if my head ache is stress related or the result of a head butting crash with paige earlier tonight ( I can now sympathise with my brother as to how hard Paiges head actually is)
Hi Everyone
Well how is everyone going? On the countdown till christmas? Not long to go now!! I love christmas!! Still got lots of shopping to do but that's cool!!
Blizz - I hope your head is feeling better! Hope you had a nice early night.. :)
Gargy - I love your new avie!! So cool having a christmas theme!!
Tarkine - How are you going? Hope the pregnancy is going well!
Well AFM I am feeling all the side effects of pregnyl! I am soooo tired too... as soon as I get home from work I want to sleep! Just cruising along in the TWW... told DH I am not going to get my hopes up this time around, still going to think positive and all that but just taking each day as it comes and certainly not reading into any symptoms!! Would be an awesome christmas present though to get a BFP!
xxx
Joy - A BFP would be the best xmas present ever!! I hope you get one!
Things are fine here - getting bigger all the time.
Hi SD!
Glad you got the full membership - numbers must be higher than I first thought!
I think everyone's Mum has felt like that at least once! :D:
My mum also Gargy.
Hi Gargy, What are you doing up so late??? :)
Hi all, sounds like everyone is cruising along quite well. Thought I'd just give you an update - had a scan yesterday and all looks as it should, so starting puregon injections tomorrow. Tad nervous - does it hurt very much?? Things feel like they're moving really quickly now with a follicle scan already booked for the 9th.
Have a great day!
Good Luck Lieve.
sorry Leive haven't been around much, not meaning to ignore you.
the injections are fine, small pain for a whole lotta gain!!!
good luck my sweets.
Lieve, the only time my injections hurt was when DH was giving them to me, and he had the shakes (so the needled moved)...If you don't push in to hard, just be gentle you'll be fine. They use tiny diabetic needles and the smaller the needle the less you notice it :)
Good luck hun!
Hi to everyone else :)
Hi Lieve
I didn't have any problems with the injections... only the Pregnyl injection which hurts!! It stings more than anything... I had my last one yesterday!!
We have our final blood test on Wednesday... not really feeling any different. Have been having some mild cramping & been getting indigestion the last few days. I really hope we get some good news... not sure how I will take the news if it is a negative... trying not to think like that though! Gets hard the last few days of the TWW.. you just want to know one way or the other! Anyway we are hoping hoping hoping we get a BFP!!  Will let you all know the results on Wed.

Hey everyone,
Very busy (as everyone is) this time of year.
Just came in to give huge kisses and hugs and I'll catch up with you when I have more time.
Take care
Joy - just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best for tomorrow..
FYI..I hope there won't be a next time..but I discovered with the Pregnyl (yes i know it hurts like mad)..the slower you inject, you tend to avoid the stinging with this one..you have to go realllllllly slowly...
Hope you're all well..
Hi All
Well we had our final blood test today..... and guess what???? A :bfp: I cant believe it!! DH and I are both in shock but we are so excited too!! It's only early days so have to have a blood test once a week for the next 3 weeks and then week 7 have an ultrasound!!! I was crying when the nurse told us the news... I still cant believe it's happened!!
:dance::dance:
Woo hoo Joy!!! THat is wonderful news :happyforyou:
I hope the next 3 weeks fly and you enjoy this fabulous news.
xx
Yay Joy!!!!! Fantastic news:clap: Enjoy this feeling - makes it all worth it in the end, eh?
Well, I'm on day 8 of puregon, have another scan tomorrow to see how everything looks, as Tuesday's scan showed 14 follies but all only at 8-9mm, so I'm praying they've grown over the past few days. I'm now up to a 133.3 dosage - FS is playing it cautious. I feel there's a little race against the clock though, as MIVF closes over xmas, and their last EPUs will be on the 20th...so I need to get my eggies mature by then. C'mon
yay:dance::happyforyou::hooray: Joy, what a christmas present that is great news, hope the next three weeks fly by
Lieve, fingers crossed all falls in to place before the christmas break:goodluck:
as for me totally flat out preparing for the arrival of the jolly man in red...heres a scary thought......I am the jolly man in red:o!!!!!

Just dropping in to say that I am currently sitting at our dining room window looking out at the rain on the bay and loving it.....woo-hoo for DH's new lap top...I may get out of the dark and gloomy study every once and a while.
Definatley know that I now cannot wait to get my own laptop next year when I start my business.
nothing else to report, Christmas shopping all finished, gifts all wrapped and 'safely???' underneath the christmas tree, last christmas card has just been written......we are officially READY FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone!
Joy - that is fantastic news - woo hoo on the BFP!!!
Dusty - as I said in your journal I have everything crossed for you that everything will be ok!
Lieve - sending you follie growing dust - grow follies grow!
Tarkine - Hi! Hope all is well!
Blizz - wow, must be great to look out your window and use your laptop - congrats on buying one! I'm sorry, but :o for being so organised - DH and I still have to complete our Christmas shopping - we did one half last week and I'll do the rest on Tuesday.
As for me - just updated my blog, so you can read about the wonderful fun I have been having lately  Actually some of it has been fun - particularly going out with DH and having some couple time, as well as the surprise party my year 7s organised for me.
Hope to be in here more often, but given that this is my last week at work I'm not sure if this will be possible...
Hi Gargy - life pretty much sucks at the moment - I'm well and truly over 2008 and I'm really looking forward to a new year.
roll on 2009..
Tarkine,
How goes Dh's job situation? (I'm gathering this is why life sucks at the moment?)
Tarkine:hug:(pm me if you feel like you need to talk or off load hon)
Yep the job situation and the money situation. We are borrowing a portacot from the grandparents because we can't afford a second hand one or even one from ebay. Yesterday was a particularly hard day for me - it just all got on top of me and I just vented (which is the first time since DH came home and said that he wasn't going to get his last fortnight salary, nor the rest of the money they owed him ($6,000+). They hadn't paid his super etc, so they owe him heaps. Plus I had spent the last 6months thinking that I would be spending the first year with bubs and was really looking forward to being a stay at home mum and a homekeeper and now I'm faced with leaving work 3 weeks before my due date (was supposed to be 6), and taking 12mths off - now I'm down to 15 weeks off work (and that is using all of my leave, and having to work enough hours to take a week off with time in lieu), so I'm feeling pretty ARGH!! at the mo and not the best of company, so I'm sorry to offload here and thanks for listening
