I bought a dinner set off ebay over the weekend and sent the seller a message asking when I could pick it up. A few minutes later the seller told me that she'd looked in the box and some of the items had been cracked. I emailed back asking how many because I only wanted the set as spare parts for mine and told her i'd be happy to buy it depending on how many had cracks in them.

This morning I've got a message from ebay asking me to cancel the transaction. I've dealt with ebay for 7 years, both selling and buying and in that time I've never come across a transaction being cancelled after the auction finsished.

The thing is that I'm prepared to buy the unbroken bits if she'd only tell me what is broken and what isn't.

Has anyone done this before? If I cancel the transaction can the seller and I still leave feedback?
