oohh that sux!
not sure if you can do anything but i would definitely contact ebay and see if they offer anything?....
I am still waiting for a seller to send my purchase, it was $70 including registered post, and wouldn't you know it, literally 2 days after I paid, she's no longer a registered user.
She marked the item as payment rec'd on the 15th of Jan, no contact since, I've emailed several times asking when she has/will send it. Nothing.
And because she is unreg now, I don't think there is anything ebay can/will do. And because she told me it would cost $5 more for paypal, I didn't do paypal, so no back-up there. ARGH!!
I've never experienced this before - I have no idea if she's sent it (doubt it) and she's not replying to emails. I think she must have been de-registered by ebay for something dodgy.
Does anyone know whether I can get ebay to do anything??

That sucks.. I hope you recieve your item!
That's just terrible! There are real i*iots out there! Did you lodge a dispute with ebay? I have lodged a dispute before when someone won an item of mine and never came to collect it. Funny because they unregistered a week later! I couldn't believe it. I received my Final Credit Value Fee back though. I hope something can be done!

I would lodge a dispute and see if Ebay can do something. It stinks that someone would do that
I hope you get it sorted.
This happened to me, only it was a trivial amount of money.
The person was deregistered from ebay the day after I paid.
I paid by bank deposit, so I had the persons bank details on record. DO you have ay details recorded in case they ask you? They followed up a dispute over < $10 for my cousin, and yours is a lo more $ than that.
Anyway, I lodged an item not received dispute with ebay. There is a time limit, in that you have to wait acertain amount of time before you can lodge it.
I got an email from the person not long after that (about 3-4 weeks after I'd paid though) saying they were posting the items the next day, not attempt at an explanation. Another fortnight went by and the item turned up, I was shocked!
I would think that it wouldnt matter that she in unreg now as she was reg when you completed your part of the purchase. Surely Ebay then has the responsibility to help just as much as if she was still reg.
This happened to us....a $600 ipod! I was furious.
We lodged an item not received claim with ebay but because we had been in contact with the seller for a little while and they were stringing us along a bit, we missed the 60 day cut off and they wouldn't do anything to help us. We tried going to the police as we had the guys mobile number and other details but they couldn't help us either.
Make sure you do it sooner rather than later. I thought DH had it under control because he said he was emailing about it, but he meant that he was emailing the seller, not ebay, and we missed the deadline. I don't know if the deadline is still 60 days, that is worth checking out.
I hope you get your money back! Dodgy buggers!
Same thing happened to me with a bulk bundle of childrens clothes. I paid about $60. I got an email to say that they were on the way after I had lodged the dispute, but I waited too long for the package and the items never turned up and Ebay told me they couldn't help because teh time had lapsed.
Hope you get some satisfaction. It's so disappointing when this happens!
i would make sure you do an item not received, that way there is a record of what has happened.. (or not happened in your case!) im not sure how that works when the seller is no longer registered.
did they have any previous feedback?
i hope you get your item!
i once had a lady pay me by online transfer, but she must have entered a number wrong, and deposited into someone elses account! lucky it was only $7, i felt terrible! but it wasnt my fault, so i couldnt really do anything!
Hi Mrs P, I hope you have had some luck with your seller. If you still haven't heard from them you can request their contact information so you can give them a call and find out where your item is. I'm not 100% sure if you can do this with an unregistered seller, but it is worth a shot.
To request their contact info:
* Click the "Advanced Search" link at the top of most eBay pages.
* Click the "Find Contact Information" link under Members on the left side of the page.
* Enter the seller's User ID and the Item number.
* Click the Search button.
You should receive an email (I think) with the seller's details. I would also file an item not received dispute to see how much eBay can help you.
Best of luck, I hope it all works out for you!![]()
Thanks for all the replies girls.
I have just filed an 'item not received' dispute. I bought it buy-it-now and paid immediately, on Jan 14, so it's within the time frame luckily. I would have waited longer to file it but she hasn't emailed since I made the payment, but prior to that we went several emails back and forth about the postage amount, as I wanted it registered, so that's why I am surprised she hasn't replied to my emails now.
I am just so surprised - I've used ebay for about 4 years and never had this happen. I guess I'm just naive enough to think that everyone is honest.
I'll keep you updated!
Well - what a surprise - she's emailed me saying that the items are in the mail. She said that her husband has been sick and that's why she hadn't posted yet.
I can understand that may be the case, but I think everyone who uses ebay knows that it is your responsibility to at least communicate with your buyer or seller!!
So I'm not going to retract the non-received item thingy until I actually receive the items. I feel a little bit bad, but given the circumstances (great communication until after I'd paid, seller unreg after I'd paid, no contact for 2 weeks) I still feel justified in contacting ebay about it.
Now I just have to wait for it to arrive!!
oh good! well hopefully it does arrive! i hope now she doesnt claim that it 'got lost in the post' or something if it doesnt arrive!
good luck!
It could be that ebay deregistered her. I have known sellers who've had auctions pulled by ebay on technicalities (too many items on the one listing etc) and been de-registered too with minimal justification, it may really be unfortunate circusmtances.
Krystal Ball - she is supposed to send it registered post, so shouldn't have any probs there.
Rayray - she actually had zero feedback and the username was only reg'd 2 days before she listed the items (I know, why did I buy from her then?) - but in the emails she sent about postage etc she seemed really lovely so I didn't see any problems. I just freaked out when she was de-reg'd after I'd paid, and when she didn't answer any emails for 2 weeks! I am sure she's going through a difficult time, but I still don't think a quick email was too much to expect (unless of course her DH was in a car accident or in hospital or something hideous like that)... Now I am starting to feel bad!!
I wouldnt feel bad, not everyone is honest and you were looking out for your interests, and you are completey justified in doing so. I hope the items arrive soon.
I wouldnt feel bad either. I hope you get your items![]()
