I'm sure there's a section on the Homeschool Australia site about contacts in each state. I have mostly found things through other groups. There seems to be a lot going on here, sports days and language and gymnastics classes, as well as just play dates and excursions. I haven't really joined in yet though. I expect then when all their little friends start going off to school I'll have to get more involved though! I hear there is a big homeschool network in Victoria though and it is the easiest state to HS in!! Just post in the Homeschool Australia FB group and ask. There's also the 'Unschool Australia' group which I like too because we're planning a lot of natural learning as well.

I was the same with telling people. I didn't post anything after we'd decided for ages. Then started posting stuff and just getting less and less subtle, hahaha. Now we've told everyone and I guess they were expecting it. We have had NO negative reactions!! I was REALLY amazed. I think when you tell people just go with 'this is what we're doing' rather than 'we're thinking about doing this', it invites less opinions, LOL. I saw what your cousin wrote Mylitta, although I didn't know it was your cousin. I really wanted to reply more to her but didn't want to be offensive and start a fight with one of your family members or something, hahaha. I just don't understand people sometimes. I mean, what you posted was showing the facts. This is what the research says. Homeschooled kids do equal or better at everything, including social skills. So I don't see what the point is of having an opinion that that's not the case. If your 'opinion' isn't supported by facts then what on earth is the point? It doesn't mean much to me. I base my decisions on the truth, not opinions of people who most likely don't even know what homeschooling these days is all about.
