With the calling people thing, maybe she just isn't sure what to say? I'm 24 and still have to get people (Mum, Scott...) to call places for me at times - I get incredibly shy and can't get past "hello" I can only comfortably call people I know, and only then if I'm sure they'll be the ones answering. Can't even call Scott's work unless I know he's the only manager on - if anyone else picks up, I hang up! And god forbid I need to call a business for anything. Even when my mum was having a m/c a couple years ago, I could hardly make my mouth work when I called the ambulance
