A friend at work has endometreosis. She has had a lap done and they removed a small amount of endo a couple of years ago. She is thin, but has a constant pot belly because of bloating. She gets a lot of pain at times and has painful AF and painful #2's. She has tried everything for the uncomfortable bloating and nothing seems to work. Some days she can barely sit because of the bloated belly and pain.
Does anyone have any advice to give? Anything to try for the bloating? Should she see an endo specialist, and if so are there any good ones in Melb S/E?
I know for my sister who has endo quite badly big changes to her diet have helped although have not been easy, she cut out most of her caffeine as she found this increased abdominal cramps, she was also diagnosed with ceoliacs so has cut out wheat but was told by naturopath that they would have recomended she cut out most wheat in her diet anyway, dairy chocolate and refined sugars and honey can cause inflammatory reactions and my sister was also told to cut back on red meat, drink lots of water and include lots of natural fibre in her diet... So not the easiest diet changes to make but I know have made a big difference for my sister, There could prob be more information on it all if you were to google it. In saying that it would prob be good for her to see a specialist and see what they recommend or even see a naturopath herself or TCM if she wants to go down that road, I hope that she can find something that works for her soon and gets some relief from it all.
Thanks snikkers, I think she should see a specialist as well. Is the bloating caused from the endo? I need to find somewhere good to recommend to her......
Yeah it is always a good idea with these things to see someone who specialises in it. I just know with my sister she had surgery twice so after that is when she started looking in to seeing the naturopath and started diet changes etc. The endo would prob have a lot to do with the bloating. It can also be common for women with endo to have IBS to so she may have a touch of that, which could be causing bloating and discomfort to and painful no# 2's, so that might be worth looking in to as well. I don't live in Melb so can't recommend anyone sorry!
Just thought I'd bump this one. My friend had pain so bad yesterday after work that when she sat down in her car to go home it reduced her to tears She looks like she is 6 months pregnant, it's getting quite bad.
Tasha,
I have stage III Endo and yes the symptoms your describing could be Endo, It could also be a number of other things (also severe). Your friend really needs to
see someone to get tests etc. Monash IVF in Melbourne have specialist who have extensive experience and should be able to help but she will need a referral from a GP first..
Thanks Blinky. She had a lap 3 years ago and they removed a small amount of endo, but I think it's gotten worse. I will as my FS for her too because I am doing IUI at Monash IVF next month
