I had to stop taking Diabex - it gives me constant diarrhea (sp?), nausea etc. I was on it for 6 months and the symptoms didn't lessen, so my doc said to stop taking it. Having said that, I know that sometimes the symptoms DO go away, and if it didn't use to make you sick and you've only just started taking it again, it might be worth sticking with it for a while, KWIM?

if it's making you constantly unwell, ask your care provider for the extended release meds - they're much more gentle on your tum! i was so unwell with stomach upset on the diabex that i developed a nasty fissure from the runs - i changed to the XR, was on a similar dose, but bugger all side effects at all! and cos it lasts all day, you only take it either morning OR night (i took it at night and if i did have any nasties it was over night)

BG - i am on the XR one

It has been a horrible feeling all day today...now i'm whinging i know. I just need to suck it up until i see the dr. The thought even cross my mind that it could have been morning sickness not from the meds but to scared to test....LOL how strange....just bad timing if that s what it is..

But really...its always after i have the meds. It used to make me sick in the begining and it's go away...but this time its not.
Could it be the dose of it????? Too much maybe????

not sure about the dosage - i was on three a day (so 1500mg) and had no impact from it - well, nothing noticable. i thought it was making MS worse at the start of E's pregnancy but i went off the meds at 14 weeks and had MS up to and right through the birth! grrrrr

I find I have severe nausea with diabex XR if I don't take it with food.I usually take mine just after I have had dinner. I used to take it before I left for work and then have breakfast when I got there, but the diabex had kicked in by them and my insulin level had dropped making me feel nausea.

Just a thought sorry if you already take it with or soon after food.

ooh, that's one thing my FS said when he gave them to me - always have them with a meal! didn't think of that - it just became habit to have dinner, pop diabex and elevit...
