Hi there,
I have hust been diagnosed with PCOS after TTC for the past 9 months. My cycles have been all over the place. The doc has put me on Metformin 3 times a day. I'm not exactly sure what it is supposed to do and if it is successful. He is also going to start me on clomid when I see him next. Can anyone tell me how successful these two drugs are?
Also I have heard that losing weight can make a big difference...has anyone has success with just losing weight?
wlecome- and join the met clomid thread. my cycles were the same and i had to beg my doc for for met cause i wasn't overweight and still young for ttc. so i went on it and it reg my cycles in a couple of months went form 60-90 days to 30 days. it helps to adjust your insulin levels which relsuts in less cysts.
i concieved all babies with met clomid so i'll be sending you all the baby dust!!
I am new to all of this and by all of this I mean the forum and having just being diagnosed wih PCOS (Nov 08) after ttc since March 08 and having a lap to look for endo in Nov 08. I have just started on Metformin on Sunday (day 3) I was prescribed 500mg once a day but I am worried about the side effects so I have started off taking 250mg once a day to ease onto the Met (I am hoping this is a good idea?)
I have also started on a low GI diet aswell and regular exercise, although I am not overweight I have put on about 6 kilos since coming off the pill in Aug 07.
I am hoping I have started on the right path with the Met and I am going on Clomid if nothing happens over the next month. This is all so overwhelming and the want to have a baby just intensifies with each passing month,
Well you have definitely come to the right place. Belly Belly is a wonderful forum, and you will find all of the girls very helpful, and there are lots of women in the same situation as you, including myself. Have a look around the site, and join a TTC Buddies thread, and even the Clomid/Metformin thread mentioned above.
Sounds to me like you are on the right track with the diet, exercise and meds. I know what you mean about the desire increasing with each passing month, and its hard to keep the faith, but just know that you are not alone on your journey
Hi Ladies just wanted to let you know its possible.
Yes losing weight when you have PCOS is def a benefit. I lost weight just before i fell pregnant with both my boys.
My last i was on just metformin alone. I was due to start clomid but had just fallen pregnant. Losing weight is harder when you have PCOS and especially if like me you are also insulin resistant. I have found a dietician is great and i also attend weight watchers, Good luck with your TTC journey and sending you loads of
