Had my pre op appoint today - next Thursday is the day I have my lap. The Dr says he will do a dye injection into the falopian tubes, he will be removing the endometrioma from the ovary, possibly the whole ovary if it is not viable. He will also be doing a curette, not sure why and didn't think to ask (get very nervous in the Dr's).
I am a bit frustrated with the hospital, they will not ring me until the day before to tell me everything, like a time, etc. I managed to sort that out with the help of the nurse at the Dr's but, geez louise, like pulling teeth.
However I don't know stuff like - do I shave? Everything off? I am imagining yes, either I do it or someone else, rather me thanks - there will be enough stangers poking around in my bits let alone someone else getting up close and personal! But no one has told me, I suppose because they are going in for the dye thingo and curette theres got to be no hair huh?
Just want to pop in and wish you all teh best with you lap!I have had several!!! 4 laps so far! and numerious IVF cycles! when i had my last they just shaved the top of my pubic area! not all so i think you will not need to go to that extream!
Praying that they leave you overy and that you make a speedy recovery
Hi ausgirl. I think with the curette, it may be to see if there is any abnormal tissue? Someone else might know? I had one done with my lap, and they sent the tissue off for testing. As for shaving, one of the nurses will do that when you arrive (like Loula said, just the top half) and they are getting you ready for surgery. As suggested in your other thread, don't forget to take some pads with you.
Hope all goes well and you have a smooth and speedy recovery
