    Tegan,

Just thought I'd pop in to let you know that yes, you definitely need a referral to an OB/GYN. You will need to get one from a Doctor, so that means that you need to fully explain your situation to the Doctor so that they understand why you want a referral. Most Doctor's don't routinely do referrals without firstly doing some investigative work themselves, so be prepared for that, ok?

But the chances are that once you get that referral, it may take a good few weeks before you'd get in to see a specialist - they're usually pretty busy. So I'd say that unfortunately it would be unlikely that you'd get in to see anyone this year.

All the very best of luck!

No worries Tegan. I know it's frustrating when you just want to get some straight answers and find out what's going on, but I just thought it best to prepare you for the fact that you may need to wait for a few weeks IYKWIM?

    Hey Tegan

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS just before I miscarried. My specialist put me on Metformin as a result of my miscarriage.

Just wanted to share my symptoms with you that I get so you can see that not all diagnoses are the same: He diagnosed me with PCOS as I had the following symptoms:

    1. High male hormone
    2. Excessive facial hair
    3. High Insulin levels

I had an ultrasound and I dont have cysts on my ovaries, but have been put on a low GI diet and taking Metformin which is great like Kylieasylea says it gives you more energy and I have lost 10kgs over the past 3 weeks.

I hope your doc appt goes well.

I think PCOS is one of those horrible things where there are numerous different symptoms, some people can have lots of them show up and other people can have none but still have it. I have a DD and concieved her before finding out I had PCOS- the one time that month we didnt use protection. And now I am up to 25mth TTC #2. So I guess everything varies with this condition.

Sorry to say this again, but you really should go and see a gp. I understand where you are coming from as far as age goes, at 24 I asked a dr filling in for my norm if I could have PCOS as I had numerous symptoms and had been TTC for 1yr and she told me no, very unlikely, and you have 1 baby you're young, dont worry about it. I then went to another dr and talked to her about all my fertility issues and she was able to help me and bring about diagnosis for PCOS and referred me on. So please don't be afraid of the gp, even though it can be expensive if you have to try more than 1 gp. Just make sure that you get someone that you are comfortable with who listens to you and is really genuine in wanting to help you. That gp is out there so chin up things will start to sort themselves out from the moment you start seeing a gp.

    Good luck.

    Merry Christmas

    Love

I'm gonna shake you woman LOL! GO and get a referral NOW! Honestly I swear to you it will make you feel better to have someone who understands your position. Do NOT let some GP wally tell you that you are too young to see anyone that is abo****e HOGWASH! I got diagnosed the first time when I was 17-18. PCOS does get worse the longer it goes undiagnosed and/or untreated. Some forms of the pill can stop cysts and things which do cause damage to your ovaries, and other things like Metformin are definitely something to consider. Don't let some Dr tell you when you should continue having more babies and put it this way even if you don't conceive in the next 6 mths at least you'll know where you stand, and you won't regret not making that decision sooner. In the long run its not about *IF* you have PCOS or not, its about WHAT is causing your miscarriages...

Please don't take my post the wrong way, I'm just concerned for you sweets, and I don't think anyone should be making your family planning decisions for you!

If I were in QLD I'd take you myself!

    *hugs*

Thats good news, now I want to hear that you have an APT! So what date did you book for??? Eh?!?!?!

And have that apt regardless, because even if you do get a BFP you'll have a Dr's apt anyway So if you haven't already book, and tell me what date!
