PCOS and pregnancy

Im 33. I was loosely diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago and finally had it confirmed 6 months ago. So all those years that I had unprotected sex (with long term partners) I wondered why I never fell pregnant...

I have been with my current partner for 9 months and he IS the one.

5 days ago I had a sneaky suspicion that i was pregnant but didn't get my hopes up, but did a test any way. POSITIVE! Very excited, especially since I was told that the most likely way for me to fall pregnant was to go on Chlomid to start and then take necessary steps after that, so falling pregnant naturally was a huge surprise/relief.

However, I am 5w3d and am bleeding, not very heavy but still, there is blood and extremely slight cramping. My HCG levels were high and "healthy" as the doctor put it but my ultra sound wasn't very positive, they couldn't find a "yolk sac" or a heart beat, but I was told that this is pretty common with pregnancies under 6 weeks.

I'm not out of the woods yet, I fear I am miscarrying as I write this but I still am waiting for more Blood results to measure my HCG levels, tomorrow. If they have risen, then I can try to stay positive in thinking this pregnacy will go ahead, if they haven't moved or are lower then I guess my fear will be confirmed.

Either way, this is to all you PCOS girls, it is possible to fall pregnant naturally and regardless of whether I mis carry or not it isn't PCOS related.

Hi ladies

I only joined today and was interested that PCOS was the first forum I read.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in April 2008. I had been trying to have a baby for 1 and a half years and went back to my gyno. I underwent a laproscopy and was diagnosed with PCOS.
Following my diagnosis I didn't get my period for 10 weeks so I changed my diet to a low GI diet. I then got my period within a couple of weeks.

However I was still unable to get pregnant. I finally commenced taking Pregnil and was to undergo IUI. I got 6 follicles on my first cycle but was not allowed to go ahead with IUI as there was a risk I could fall pregnant and have multiple pregnancies.
After my first lot of injections I fortunately got my period again the next month and fell pregnant straight away.

I hope it all works out for you and my fingers are crossed.

I am only new to this forum. My husbane and I have been TTC for nearly 3 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year.

Today I am having a REALLY BAD DAY!!! I am literally sitting here with tears rolling down my face. One of best friends phoned me this morning to tell me that she is expecting. Dont get me worng I am so so so happy for her but I'm just so sad. Three of my best friends are pregnant and are due 10 weeks apart. I dont know how to handle it and I am just so depressed. They all did'nt have to try and in fact one of them has been trying her whole life not to be pregnant.

I dont know what to do. This is taking over my life and I'm just so sad. Will a baby ever come my way?

I have been taking metformin for 12 months and it has done NOTHING except make me sick. I ahve only had my period twice this year. I'm seeing a natropath at the moment also and have an appointment with a fertility specialist at the end of September ... hopefully things will look up from there.

I too am proof that you can concieve naturally, my first two children where conceived with no assistance.
My last bub i was on metformin for 3 months before we were pregnant.

I only just saw this group and thought that I would share my story with you..

At 18 I was diagnosed with severe Endometriosis and had to have a laparoscopy due to the severity of my condition, i was pretty much told that my chance of having children was very very little, and that if there was any chance that I would have to get pregnant in the next couple of years.. a great thing to hear when your 18....

2 years later I was diagnosed with PCOS and at that stage knew that pregnancy was soooo not an option.... for years I had unprotected sex as I knew that getting pregnant would SOOOOOO not happen.

In November 2007 after a trip to the hospital for a destructive lifestyle I found out that I was pregnant at the age of 24.... at first I did not believe them as how could I with sooooo many health complications be pregnant... even when i told my doctor she was speechless and didn't believe me until i showed her the results from the hospital.....it didn't really sink in nor did I really believe them until I saw the ultrasound and heard the heartbeat.... I will admit that it was a difficult pregnancy but when my son finally came out he was the happiest and healthiest boy ever... he is now 1 and still the best kid ever... I thank god everyday for my little miracle baby... he saved my life in many many ways...

Never give up guys.... if it can happen to me it can happen to you...

Sounds like me and you are both on the same page! I have been going through a rough time at the moment especially since 3 girls i know have had babies in the last 2 months, a handful of girls i went to school with are expecting and nearly every girl in my life have children. It's not that i want a baby because everyone has one its i feel that i will never experience pregnancy and motherhood. I have only been on metformin and the pill for 2 months and i'm already having problems, i saw my doctor yesterday and he has asked me to stop taking the pill (i'm taking yasmin) i'm looking at TTC next year but the more i feel like crap the more i see myself not getting pregnant. Dont get me wrong i am SO happy for my friends all their kids are gorgeous, i hold no resentment but a little jealousy and i too hate feeling like that.

As hard as it is to do i just think you need to relax and just know it will happen, the more you worry about it the less likely it will happen.

I have been recently diagnosed with PCOS after having a lap done 2 weeks ago. I am still really in shock. I didn't expect to receive that news !!! I don't have any symptoms - no hair loss - im not overweight - no acne - and very regular but very light AF. The doc is starting me on clomid but im just waiting for AF to arrive to start my first round. My period was due this week but still nothing. I spotted on the weekend - two weeks after my op? No idea whats happening to my body! Just thought I would share my story....
