Dabs this probably doesn't relate to you, but I thought I'd post in case on the rare chance it did.
I had bad periods and ovarian cysts since I was 19. It was so bad I couldn't function the day I got AF. AF got so bad that in May this year at 30 years of age that I was vomiting on AF day. One month later I went in to a doctor who was skeptical of my request of a blood glucose fasting test but gave me a blood glucose test. The test showed I had high blood sugar and diabetes. I ended up in hospital the next week due to that test for diabetes type 1 with dehydration.
I have been on insulin ever since and since starting the insulin my bad periods went away to like they were before I was 18. I had type 1, a slow forming type that instead of developing in childhood slowly develops in your 20's and often doesn't show up in fasting blood glucose tests. It doesn't show up because slow type 1's can have good basal insulin ( the insulin that lasts all day) and bad meal insulin (the insulin that lasts 1 hour after a meal. To test for slow type 1 a HBAC1 test is required as it shows an average of blood glucose over 3 months unlike the fasting which doesn't show the post meal time blood sugar levels.
