I would love to try some alternatives but there seems to be so much that verges on being carob-like and I wouldn't feed carob to pigs! So it's really hard to find a great alternative, especially out here where there are no speciality shops.
Sam, the only G&B that is fair trade was the Maya Gold one, it has citrus and spice overtones to it so it's not a plain choccy
I've been wondering about the sugar in Cadburys. It's not an issue in Australia because we have a thriving sugar industry of our own but the UK imports its sugar and lots of it would come from the developing world. I'm sure that in poorer countries sugar would have some of the same issues associated with the production of cocoa and coffee.
hmmm good point. I wonder how you can find that out. I would be surprised if Cadbury aust even used Australian sugar as the price would be cheaper to get it in from OS.
Funny, after talking about this yesterday I got an email from Jasper and they have a fair-trade organic drinking chocolate now. They also have fair-trade organic coffee that I order online from them.
About to put a choccy order in for winter mmmmm.....
ETA - They've added fair trade sugar to their stock as well but I think I'll stick with the CSR organic.
ETA 2- All the fair trade drinking chocolate is out of stock but
