One Billion Rising - standing up against violence in a beautiful way!

Wow! Have you heard about One Billion Rising?

This is a short youtube film that explains what it is about - (warning - it's impactful and alludes to upsetting scenarios of violence against women - it is ultimately uplifting.)

On February 14, there are events in cities worldwide.

Feb 14, Federation Square, for Melbournites

Facebook pages galore for each event and city

including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Ireland, and heaps more

    And it's FUN!

They've made this anthem called Break the Chain and choreographed steps to it, you can learn some or all of the steps:

I hope all the people who stepped out for Jill Meagher will join this. Please share widely and if you can think of any journalists and people active in women's groups etc please let them know and get them on board.

Oh thanks Cassius2 that's awesome. There's some big names endorsing this, like Alice Walker, Anne Hathaway, Dr Christiane Northrup and heaps more. Even Robert Redford! But I think the Aussie chapter needs a bit of a boost. I only found out about this a couple of weeks ago but I like that it's a global event and there's solidarity.

I manage a facebook page for a women's group so will check it out. Internet here is super slow at the moment so it might have to wait for tomorrow.
