My mum was always out of bed ages before us kids got up, and would have already done the washing and hung the clothes on the line, before coming to wake us up. Coz I loved my bed soooo much, and really didn't want to get out of it, especially in the middle of winter, she would come in straight from hanging the clothes on the line, come upstairs, pull back the doona, pull up my pyjama shirt, and stick her freezing cold hands on my stomach. Of course that had me wide awake in a nanosecond, and jumping out of the other side of the bed, but at least I was up!

Not so helpful at this time of year, but maybe just hold an ice-pack or a bag of peas for a little while before you go and wake them up?

I reckon you should try it at least once - with your DH ready with the video camera! Then send it to Funniest Home Videos...
