With #2 it was fate. I was full time breastfeeding, hadn't had AF at all, my DH and I had DTD twice and whammo. I wasn't ready - far from it - and I won't lie that the first couple of years with a 12 month gap weren't incredibly difficult for me, but I wouldn't swap that close age gap in my girls for anything now. We had originally hoped for more like 18 months - I was almost 37 when DD1 was born.
This time around it was one of those things I was very much against for a long time, then slowly the feeling that I wasn't done got stronger. I lost four babies in our efforts to conceive #3 so the gap between #2 and #3 is bigger than what I was hoping for, but it is what it is and I'm happy for whatever I get.
I really don't think there is any wrong time. You deal with what comes your way, and you love the children you're blessed with.
