I'm done. Now to concentrate on raising my only child.

DH and I had "the talk" tonight. :-(

Our gorgeous DD will be an only child.

It's not what I really wanted. I wanted to have at least 2 living children, but instead I have angels watching over my DD.

We decided due to my complications during pregnancy and fertility issues that we will not be TTC again in the future. We are looking at getting DH snipped... :-(

Instead, I am very focussed on my family. Which will be "just us 3... for eternity... "

I suppose I wanted to vent and get it out... I am glad I have BB to do that.

    Thanks for reading.

that decision was made for me too, i appreciate how upsetting it is, i still struggle with it, years later. LIke you, i have to focus on rearing the one child i do have, and realising myself, that i find rearing ONE child quite a challenge, so maybe it has worked out for the best. Doesn't stop the cluck-o-meter.

Definitely not. I can live vicariously through friends and family!

It still doesn't take away the pain though. We should have been able to make that decision because we have had enough living babies, not because of history, illness or infertility. Huge hugs to you to Gigi x

PP that's a big and very brave decision. Good on you, and lots of hugs. I hope this eventually brings a sense of peace for you. X

Such a tough decision to come to, one we were almost faced with too given our infertility and m/c issues. Huge hugs

That's really rough, and really brave for you voicing it.

I'm so glad you have a safe space to do so.

There are lots of happy healthy fulfilled families of 3, whether by choice or by nature or due to other reasons. You're not alone.

My mum was an only child, and her parents found different ways of integrating other kids and families, and for maximising the specialness of a family of three unit.

You'll find your own path too, hun.

PP - what a difficulty decision for you to have to make.

FWIW - I am an only child and it isn't necessarily a negative thing. There are many many positives and opportunities for extended "family" beyond blood ties.

    Huge

I fear that this decision will also be in our not so distant future also.
I try to look at the positives to only children
It's more distressing when the decision is taken out of our hands.
