My parents did it all the time. Dad has trouble now as my DH is Tony and my sisters DH is Toby. There were a lot of confused people at my poor sisters wedding when Dad kept getting the name wrong in his speech Some of BIL's friends thought dad was mixing BIL up with one of my sisters ex's, had to quickly explain that his Son IL's names were very similar

Yep, I am known to use every other name first (including the dog's) before I hit the right one...

My mum has four kids...Im not sure how often I have ever been called my right name first time!!!!
We all just answer to whatever name she calls us these days....especially when we are the only one with her...funny my dad never had that problem with our names.
    Its funny!

My Dad just generically nick named us all Fred to avoid any confusion. And he used to point alot!!! lol Even now when I am talking to him on the phone he will get our names wrong when he is talking about us.. he will go "oh you will never guess what Kathryn is doing.... " and i go.. "Gee wont I??? What AM I doing these days??? lol" My mum however has always been pretty good

In my little family we have a bit of a funny situation.. DS is named after DH... which is so far ok because not many people refer to DH by his first name... I call DH "Baby" and he calls me "Baby" and DD got the nickname "Baby" when she was a Baby.. so when one of us calls "Baby!!!" we all have to check who it is we are talking to!!! lol

That's what I need, a nickname to cover all the kids then they can work out who I'm calling for.

I'm awesome at this. I go through all the pets names, DH's, my siblings and the kids before I get to who I mean

    Ha ha ha. Great thread.

I only have one child, but I sometimes call her by DH's name and vice versa. I'm pretty sure that when we had pets I would throw the pets names in there sometimes too (or call the rat by DD's name...).
