AF was late which it usually is although not since it returned after DD2 so thought I had better rule pg out and leading up to the test I was kind of excited as we always said two was it for us but deep down I really wouldn't mind another. Everywhere I looked there were three kids, birth announcements for the third child, pregnancy announcements with the third. And then I wondered if three was the new two for kids?
I was disappointed that there wasn't a second line but it would have had to be a miracle and really, my two precious girls are quite a handful for me right now.
Funny you should mention this cause DH and I were only just discussing this very topic. We have 3 children and have always been very open, right from the start, that that is how many we would have. All of our friends/aquaintances were all very "oh no, 2 is more then enough for us" attitude, but slowly more and more people we know are having a third! 5-10 years ago almost nobody we knew were having 3, now it is more like no-one is only having 2.
So, in answer to your question, yes I believe 3 is becoming the new 2!
My DH believes that everyone who says they'll just have 2 ends up having 3 accidentally, which is what happened with my brother and SIL. But they are happy about it now
Definately not in my circle. Most of my friends have 2 kids and are done. Several have even gotten snipped already to make sure 2 is it. We're done with 2 and considering how hard we had to try to conceive, I can't see an accidental third ever happening, but you never know .
Yeh 2 was generally the 'standard' family wasn't it? I was from a family of just me and my brother. And maybe that's why my whole life I always wanted 3 kids. Who knows? But i have seen people generally having the 3rd addition later (like me! Lol)
Tinsel - I actually heard another lady tell me that 3 was the new 2 just the other day. I had a scare last month and was very disappointed not to see 2 lines as well, although I have 3 (as you know)..
BTW - You made a comment some where (can't remember) and felt that you were thinking about 3 xxoo
Yep I agree I think 3 is the new 2 and it also makes 4 more "normal" cause 4 would be the new 3 iykwim? We did want 4 but since ds2 we have decided almost 100% just one more....BUT if we have a ds3 then we might have a number 4 to try for a girl
i was thinking bout this the other day aswell. DP and i are both from families with 3 kiddies. i always said definately 2 but if we were to have another boy i would prob wanna try for a girl
I've been thinking about this too! I have always been adamant that we will have only 2 but I have found myself saying quite often if we have a third I'd like a homebirth!! We will see how number 2 goes. DH wants four!!!
