What are your partner's concerns? Are they easily disturbed by noise or wake easily during the night? If so, then it might be a problem. But if they are like my two (2.5yrs and 14 months) they will be fine. Right now they are both lying in their bed (older one in a bed, Ollie in his cot) and chattering and basically avoiding sleep, but it is a hot night and they should settle down within 30 mins. They VERY rarely take long to go to sleep.
