id ditch them darl...
i dont know why they are so popular
Can someone tell me why the teat collapses when DD feeds? Does not happen all the time but is rather a pain in the butt for both of us. She gets cranky because I have to open the bottle and close it. I noticed with the new bottles there is now a blue / white ring...i'm guessing this is to help with colic. I tried the bottles without this ring.....but they leak BIG time!

Any chance your tighten the lid too much, sounds like air isn't getting into the bottle to replace the liquid coming out.
not sure about the teat thing coz it doesnt happen here, but those blue ring things????
WTH!?!?!? i got some bottles with those and they were a nightmare i ditched them!
I have no answers, sorry. They used to leak for me too, and were a royal pita. They used to peeve me off so much! I think in the end, we would only *just* do the bottles up to stop them leaking.
I would maybe send an email to Avent. Ive never had a problem with them. We recently bought some of the new ones and even though DD2 is only a week old, we havent had any problems with the teats.. they just seem the same as the old ones.
Aha.....possible am doing them up too tight....I do tend to make sure they are done up tight! Does make sense. Thanks for that!

Yeah i have the ones with the blue ring thing, and sometimes if i havent got them screwed on right they leak, but i havent had any trouble with the teat collapsing.
you may nedd to go up a size teat
I used them with DS and had the same problems. So we used to tighten it, then loosen it a little to release the pressure. Then we used the pigeon ones for dd1 and nuk ones for dd2.
I got some for baby shower but I'm using tommy tippee ones. Never used avent before.
We used them after much um-ing and ah-ing with DS2 and had no issues.
The tighter you screw the top on the slower the milk flow
I've used the Avent bottles with the ring and the only leaking issue I've had is once when DP assembled it and put the ring blue side up instead of down... Never noticed any issues regarding needing to tighten it a particular amount or way.
And as far as the teat collapsing - I've only known it to happen when the sucking strength was too strong for how much could come out - ie. slow teat... So maybe try the next faster flow??
Okay.....stopped doing them up tight and no longer have the teat collapsing.
I tried her on the next size up teat.......she drowned in the amount of milk that came out! lmao......oh and so did I! Not funny anymore. *giggles* Might try again though as that was about a month or so ago.
Thanks girsl for all the feedback and advice!
Have a tops weekend.
