    Bottle refusal after burping

DH and I are pretty much at the end of our rope with this.

When Sam was sick, he stopped drinking his bottles, understandable with a stuffy nose and finding it hard to breathe. He'd basically stop drinking when we stopped to burp him, and then completely refuse to allow the bottle back in his mouth.

Unfortunately, now that Sam's well again, he's still doing it. The only way we can get him to finish a bottle is by hoping he'll chug it straight down and not need a break. If he needs burping, that's it, bottle over. Even if he's only drunk 100mL, he just carries on when you try to give him the bottle back and pushes it out with his tongue. We've tried waiting for half an hour or so, same thing - it's as though we're torturing him by trying to feed him.

    Any suggestions at all?

i wouldnt be burping him at all until hes finished the bottle (however much he may want) If i stopped Mia half way through to burp, she would do the same thing. She know that when its burp time, bottles finished.

Palmer does the same thing...if I stop halfway, she won't take the bottle again.

I won't burp her now until she looks like she's eaten a good amount. Then she brings up one massive burp. The MCHN was very impressed by her noises LOL.

I think he's just feeling off today... Can't get him to drink more than about 100mL no matter what I do. He's not getting hungry early either - he's just totally off his food today.

I just sat down with a dropper and what was left in his bottle out of sheer desperation... and got not much more than a soggy baby for my efforts.

If the burping and then refusing thing is normal, then I'll just persevere with him. It's just been such a change from the baby who could stop and have two or three burps through a bottle... It's just not the only issue we're dealing with today.
