    which formula

hi all, well we are soon to have bub number 6 and i know this will seem a silly question given that i have 5 kids already but there is a 7 year age gap this time and i was just wondering what formula everyone would suggest.
i will be bottle feeding from birth as i have with 3 of the last 5 and as my other kids were on lactogen and i know this is not a preferd formula anymore and have been told that all the gold ones have added stuff that they just dont really need (it just seems to be another way to get money from us) and boy there are just so many types out now i would just like to here what other people have used.thanks

I used SMA for both my boys and with Jensen at 6 months we used Heinz Nurture Follow on. Didn't really notice any difference between the regular and the gold.
Both were great formulas, and reasonably priced as well.

I used Nan HA with DS from the time he was 2 days old. I switched over to S26 Gold when he was about 2 weeks old because he got really bad constipation from the Nan. (Which is unusual because S26 usually causes it) but he has been fine. I only put him on the gold one because that was the one my sister used, and she gave me some free samples when I was in the hospital, so it was all I had at the time!!!

DD1 i used S26 Gold but gave her bad constipation, so switched to Karicare from Birth (just plain/normal one..not a Gold)...and now use Karicare Gold Toddler

DD2 i use Karicare Gold from birth and have no constipation issues at all

    So my recommendation is Karicare..

I have to agree with Kimbaz there.

I use KARICARE GOLD PLUS for Madeleine and I have no constipation issues at all, she really loves it and is very healthy.

Sometimes it's just trial and error because I've heard the Karigold sometimes causes constipation. But it doesn't with my little one.

Good luck finding one that suits.

I have used s26, Karicare and Heinz and they were all fine. I didn't use the gold versions. Out of the three of them, I would pick Heinz first because it is the cheapest, closely followed by Karicare.

I use S26 and have had no problems with it. However, I have not tried any other brands.

I agree with Bon to try a cheaper formula like Heinz first as S26 is around $20 a tin. I wish I had of done that!

I would steer clear of any of the gold brands, even my MCHN says they seem to cause more problems than they're worth.

We use S26 and haven't had any dramas (since we changed from gold).

    Thumbs up

My baby's maternal health nurse (she's being doing her job for years & years) suggested KARICARE !!!

... Also a couple of friends suggested KARICARE & they also warned me that the S26 makes the bub's vomit stink more than usual

Well, it was true as I tried both, when my bub was on the S26 her vomit & burps smelt a million times worse than when I tried her with KARICARE ... So, it was KARICARE all the way !!

I disagree Janie, my MCHN suggested Karicare too!! Madeleine has no problems with that brand. I think each baby is different.

With DS we started with the NAN Gold and then switched to Lactogen when he was older (because it was cheaper). He never had any consitpation issues and we never needed to try any of the other brands.

I used Nan HA with Kiara for first few months them switched to SMA as she was quite chucky... that was great but wasn't readily available, and we again switched to one of the thickened ones... sorry cant remember which one now...

A friend suggested start with the cheapest and work your way up if it doesn't suit... If I have to AF this time I think I will try the hienz or karicare... Good Luck
