DS was on Nan in the hospital and when we first came home. DH then bought Heinz formula (supermarket was out of Nan) thinking they were pretty much the same. Anyway on the Heinz DS's skin broke out in a bit of a rash and he developed eczema on his chin. I stopped the Heinz and switched back to the Nan and it cleared up.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of the specific ingredient that might have caused this, as if DS is going to be sensitive to foods then I would like to start monitoring it now. In reading the labels ourselves there are heaps of ingredients so we are not sure which one it might be but thought someone with experience in allergies might know.
Hi!I only just found your thread but very interested to read it!ive just posted about the nan gold!My DDis now 2and half and she has had eczema since about 2 months which is when she was started on formula,i wish knew what i did now as ive now got a 4 week old and i have him on karicare but am in the middle of changing to the nan on naturopaths advice and also because of my DD having the eczema what ive read and what he said was it could have been the caesin, aparently milk is made up of 2 proteins whey and caesin and its the caesin that can cause the allergys not sure if this is all true just what naturopath said,so he suggested the nan or a H.A formula, for my DS since DD already has eczema, maybe if id changed her to this she wouldnt have it i dont know but very interesting what you said,he also said nothing much about other foods things to avoid just that they will get used to the cows milk but this slows them into it or something along those lines.just a question.did you ease your baby onto the nan,im having some unsettling issues and trying to work out if its due to the change or maybe once hes on the full nan he be better, ive only heard good reports on it,just worried too as he is such a hungry baby hope it fills him enough!
