Unhappy Night feeds and not sleeping through

hi there my little girl is nearly 9 months old and just wont sleep through and still wakes for a bottle around 12-1am...she has around 4 bottles per day @ 200mls plus breakfast, lunch, dinner and a few snacks.
She weighs around 7.8kg and is putting on weight very slowly..she has actually dropped from the 50th percentile down to the 25th not drastically she is still putting on weight but just slowly.
Is there any way i can get her to drop the night feed my midwife suggested dropping the night feed and giving her more food, and if she does wake for a bottle give her water..but it doesnt make any difference!!
I have tried to resettle her without the bottle but she just loses it and wakes herself up then is awake for hours.
Should i just not worry about it and go with her flow or should i try something else??

I wouldn't worry about it too much, i know my SIL still gave her boy a bottle around that time - I gave up the night bottle at around 6-7 months, but only because we would have to wake him up for it, and he would be awfully cranky.
I say that she will let you know when she is ready to drop it. Mine still wakes up now during the night, but settles with just a dummy. We only give him water if he has a temp or something which wakes him up, something to make sure he isn't getting dehydrated.
Not much help I know, but good luck!! Just follow your instincts.. you're doin a great job

Hi, we were giving my son a bottle during the night right up until he was about 12 months old. I think it was more a comfort thing and when we decided at 12 months to drop it we didn't have a problem. We started by making it very weak formula and then got to the point where it was really just formula flavoured water. He eventually decided it wan't worth waking up for and stopped waking up entirely.
I think that your daughter will drop it when she is ready, but if you really want her off it, then either go cold turkey or wean her off it gradually.
And as for her not putting on weight very quickly, maybe she is just going to be a smaller child? Some kids are bigger than others. Yours may just be delicate and dainty!

rylans mum - I completely hear you!! My little man is nearly 9 months too and he wakes 3-4 times during the night!! Last night was a record 6!! But he does seem to have a stuffy nose so that may explain last night. I have read some of the other replies and I will try the watering down of forumla.. hopefully that works and my DS won't want to wake for a bottle if it is not formula. Just thought I would let you know you are not alone..

Just as an afterthought, I wouldn't recommend watering down the formula for any reason, as the cans say (usually in bold type) that it must be made up to recommendations otherwise it can make your bub really sick. Just a thought
