    pre-making bottles?

Hi Everyone, I am preparing for hubby to return to work in a few weeks. He has been great, cleaning up, taking turns feeding, changing nappies, and making all the night bottles. I will be doing it all on my own very soon

Bubs is waking every 3-4 hours, and I am going to be doing all the night feeding as hubby will probably be sleeping in the back room to get some solid sleep before work. Is it bad to keep pre-made bottles in a bottle bag in the bedroom?? or should I just keep the boiled water and formula separate? She only drinks milk that is room temperature.

    Thanks

When DD was drinking formula we used to put boiled water into bottles (anything up to 7 at a time) and keep them in the fridge. We kept the measured formula in formula containers and just added them to the chilled boiled water, mixed it and then zapped it in the microwave at 10sec intivals until it was luke warm - I know people say not to use a microwave but I really don't understand why and we've never had a problem.

    pre-making bottles?

Keep them separate if it's mixed up they need to be kept in the fridge to stop it from going off.

    pre-making bottles?

Overnight I keep the hot water in the bottles in an insulated bag and the forumla in a dispenser and add when ds wakes. I also put an extra bottle of super hot water in the bag and that keeps the bottles warm. If you try it over a few nights you would work out the right temps to start with. I figure it is just like going out for a day. I do all this after the 11pm feed and the 3am feeds is covered. Good luck.

I used to (and will be again) making up the bottles of water, putting the formula in a dispenser and warming up the water in the microwave before adding the formula. If you heat the bottle with the formula in it already, it will take some of the nutrients out of it. I learnt this with DS3, wish i knew it for the other kids.

I did the same as MrsBump, made up bottles with boiled water in them, kept them in the fridge then heated up water BEFORE putting formula in them

ok, so the go is water and formula separate until feed. I am still trying to convince hubby to buy me a "milk in a minute" bottle maker. Cross fingers it will be in a few weeks.

    Thanks for all the replies
