you really need to keep them in the fridge so bacteria doesnt grow in the water.
Just wondering...I'm FT FF and I sterilise the bottles every morning in a microwave steriliser, I then pour in cooled boiled water into the bottles and seal them (with teat & cap) and let them sit on the kitchen bench until required. I then add formula, shake and use (no heating or anything).
Is this ok??? I mean, is the water ok to be left at room temperature inside sealed sterilised bottles? Or should I really be keeping the bottles with water in them in the fridge?
Thanks![]()

FWIW i was in a mother and baby unit and once they had boiled the water they left it out (covered) all day so id say your fine. im guilty of pre making bottles and leaving them in the (insulated) nappy bag or fridging them and microwaving and my bubs is fine. HTH
TBH I would put them in the fridge and then heat them up as you want them. But I have always been pretty paranoid with bottles.
I used to put 3 quarters of the required amount boiled water in them and pop them in the fridge. When bubs wants a bottle I just boil the kettle and fill the last quarter. I find the water is at the right temp then and I don't need to use the m/w etc.
Thanks ladies!
Thats a genius idea MissH!!! I think I might try doing that!
beanybub i do same as you told no problem by hosp in the hosp they dudn't sterilise just air dried bottles then sealed them...
i dont use the bottle if more than 24hrs has passed since filling though
I did the same as miss h. It worked perfectly for me too.
oh i should have said i dont heat water i give it at room temp
you boil it first though right? (probably a stupid question but just clarifying)
and yes giving at room temp is the best i got in the habit of heating DDs bottles and 9 months on she will only have it warm, flat out refuses if its cool no matter how hungry she is, then its a mad dash to find a cup of hot water or microwave![]()
oh yes boiled then cooled in the bottles on bench so room temp....with Jack we had to carry a thermos with us everywhere and even when he finally went to cows milk he still wouldn't drink unless wamred wasn't making that mistake this time, room temp only![]()
