    Trying a new 1

DS has been on Nan HA gold for a while and doing well but DH and I decided to try him on Heinz nurture gold starter 1 and see how he goes.
I dont think he liked the taste change much but he's only had 1 feed of it so far.
    Is anyone else using it?
    How do u find it?
We r on a very limited income atm and its a cheaper formula so that why we decided to give it a go and see what happens. If he doesn't go well we will change back but we need to cut costs everywhere so the formula change is a trial only. I understand I need to do whats best for him and as I said if he doesn't go well on it I will change back but its worth a try yeah?

Hi, dont worry if you can. All formulas have to conform to Australian standards. I always bought whatever was on special and if your worried about good fats and good bacterias go for cultured yoghurts when baby is old enough.
All of the formulas you can buy are good, it usually just depends on what they will drink.

You do have to be careful when switching formula's. It can cause problems, including constipation, tummy pains etc.
The Gold formula's have more iron in them & are more likely to cause problems, but that depends on the baby too.

My 2 oldest were formula fed after the first month or 2. When DD1 was about 3 months old they were out of our usual formula (Lactogen), so I bought S26. She had problems for the whole week. Just as it started to ease our usual one was in stock again. She also had problems going from breast milk to formula & then from the S26 back to the Lactogen.
DD2 had no worries going from breast milk to formula, & when I left my tin at a friends house an hour away in the middle of the night, I could only get a different one at the 24 hour. Again she had no problems.

So fair enough to change, but I would try hard not to keep changing.

Sam had a mild dairy intolerance - which means that the HA formula was ok, but regular ones were not. He can now drink lactose-free milk or long-life milk but not regular cows milk. Believe me, if we could have changed to a cheaper one, we would have! I hope the change goes well - and you'll know soon enough if it doesn't suit him - for us it was chunkier (and stinkier!) spews and feral nappies.

Thanks for the input ladies. He seems to be going well on it so far and is burping and settling better too so thats another plus so I will see how it goes and if he keeps going well I will be happy if not then back we go.
