Don't have the same problems with them over here that the do in Melbourne. Problem here is they don't grow well at all.
Their flowers will attract bees, but by no means mass amounts
African Daisies grow really well and are pretty, but you will get some bees - but bees aren't going to hurt you. Rosemary is really popular over here as well for hedging and won't attract bees at all. Smells divine and you can eat it!
Lucky I've been far too lazy to do anything about the garden so far
And we don't hate bees, but DH is highly allergic to bee stings, and the garden bed is in quite a high traffic area for all of us coming and going from the house, so if I can minimise the risk I will try to.
