    ethical eating

    Hi,

I am starting this thread to discuss some issues that were raised in the butter vs margarine thread. Not sure if this is the right place?! Sorry, I didn't know how to transfer your comments here.

Flowerchild, i agree that we should consider the ethical issues and environmantal impact of our food choices. I agree that organic is better for the environment.

I agree with Inertia that organic isn't necessarily the best for animals though.

Organically raised animals might be less restricted (eg. chickens, pigs), however, they don't escape the end result - transportation to an abbatoir, then death.

    Hope you find this thread!

I hope Inertia will come by so she can add to the discussion.

Organic farming is known to be more environmentally gentle.

However, I think the issue is vegetarianisim versus carnivorisim...

I have long wrestled with this issue. I was a vegetarian for about 15 years. I chose not to eat meat for reasons related to my feelings on killing other beings, farming techniques, transportation AND the footprint it leaves on our Earth...

I want to discuss this but its a busoy time. I will bBL
