Fern leaves burning in the sun .. help pls

    Hi Ladies

Our Fern, the one's that have a tree stump then the big leaves at the top ... I tried to google the name with no luck, sorry

It is burning in the sun, we are in for a scorcher summer, and we would like to cover it, and other little furns I have in the garden as well..

What would be the best cover to protect it from the sun ... I was thinking the green mesh from one side of the roof to the pergola , they are all in like a corner pocket ..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :

Yeah shade cloth is the way to go. If you don't want it to be permanent, you just want to give a little bit of extra protection to the ferns on hot days, you can just drape it over the fronds until the hot weather passes, that will work too. And keep the soil as moist as you can with water (when you can) and a nice thick layer of mulch.

Try looking up D!cksonia antarctica or Cyathea cooperi, you've probably got one or the other.

ETA: the ! in the above word starting with a D is an "i", the rude word police wouldn't let me write the real word, which is an absolutely legitimate botanic name, I assure you.

With ferns, you want to soak the trunk. Thats how they get water. Go for a slow dripping hose into the middle of the top (where the leaves come out) until whole trunk gets waterlogged. it will keep it going through the hot days.
