home grown avacados!

We have an avacado tree in our backyard, this is the first year that we have had fruit and they are huuuge!
Was wondering though, does anyone know if you are supposed to pick at a certain time? I have been waiting till they fall off the tree, they are still hard then, but 2-3 days and they are nice and soft, Just ate our first one today, Man, the flavours are awesome!! seriously is a different thing to a shop bought one! so full of flavour and so buttery!

Oh they sound AMAZING!!!! Can't give any advice about them coz we haven't even bought our avocado tree yet, but we do plan on it

fourontheway- make sure you have enough room for it, our tree has grown sooo huge!

does anyone know if I can pick them straight off the tree?
