I've planted out my dead side of the house with vegies. I've put in brown onions, spring onions, parsley, rosemary, corn, cos lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, red peppers, beetroot, carrots and pumpkin. It's only a narrow garden bed against the fence, but I've been really pleased with the range I've been able to grow in such a small area.
But now the bugs are starting to attack and I don't know how to go about scaring them off. I don't like the idea of pesticides if I can help it, so does anyone have any ideas, or even a gentle pesticide (if there is such a thing) that will get the bugs, but not drown the plants? They're attacking the red peppers and cos so far. All it is is the plant - they've yet to grow veg.
You will need to put down snail bait as snails can destroy a crop in a couple days. I use the one that is safe for animals. We also use prythrium spray (spelling) as it is gentle.
If you look carefully you may find green caterpillars, they are hard to find, just squash them. I do this between leaves as I won't touch them..yuck.
