    Angry I just reported a driver to the EPA!!

    I just reported a driver of a 4WD who threw his LIT cigarette butt out the window onto the road in the MIDDLE OF THE BUSH!!! I am talking a narrow road surrounded by dry bush with shrubs growing onto the road. It was burning and smoking everwhere.
    Seriously did we all not learn our lesson from Black Saturday? Not to mention the litter factor too.

    The EPA website says the most likely consequence for the driver is the he will recieve an infringment notice, which I think is $275

    Has anyone else reported someone before?
    The site says that if he contests it and it goes to court, I would have to go as a witness.
    But, I don't care, it's just not fair that someone can put everyone else at risk like that. It is still very, very dry here.

    Well done!! That guy needs to be taught a lesson.

    I have reported 2 people on different occasions to police.
    The first one was a lady who was nursing a toddler on her lap (in the front seat) as they drove along the road I lost the car, but told the 000 operator their number plate.
    The second was just the other day, a drunk loser was swaying all over the road, beeping his horn consistently and screaming god knows what to no-one in particular. I phoned 000 and it was just a coincidence that this was occuring about 500m down the road from the police station. Didn't take them long to find him.

    Tanya and Boomber- I agree, it is totally yuck and disrespectful. It is not hard to dispose of your own rubbish, including butts thoughtfully. I feel a bit like a snitch, telling on someone to the teacher!!!

    Good on you....just a question, how do they prove it ? How do you prove or the police prove it happened ??? The offender could well and truly deny the accusation....then what ??? Just interested.
    Ive seen someone chuck a whole bag of maccas takeaway rubbish out the window...like my god, how hard is it to throw it in the bin when you get home.....

    I'm a serial reporter - I have the website saved on my puter at work

    During summer, there was an increase of reported litterers, mostly from ciggarette butts!

    You can also report polluting cars.

    You need:
    * rego
    * location
    * cross-street
    * where observed (from / to)
    * suburb
    * make / model of car
    * colour
    * direction travelling.

    etc

    Well done

    Good on you what a careless and potentially dangerous (not to mention stupid) thing to do.

    i think that they can contest it, but then it goes to court, and it is decided there.

    Good on YOU. People like you are needed so much more! People who actually have the guts and to actually go and report them! Thank you! I can't believe so many people can be so stupid as to throw a cigarette, but to throw out a lit one? My, my, my. People clearly haven't learnt anything from Black Saturday and all that jizz.

    Well done and good on you! Hope you win this too and he gets what he deserves. Sorry for a bit of a rant, strong believer :]

    Well done. x

    Good for you! I was going to, but never got around to it.
    Near MIL's place the tip is just a big bin behind a driveway. I was driving past & there was a car & trailer pulled up dumping a freezer & a heap of rolled up wire & junk on the side of the road just out side the tip yard How hard to just drive up the little hill??
    Some people leave stuff at the top if its reuseable, so others can take it if they like, but just dumping it down there was pathetic! None of it could be used again.
    Not only that, but they weren't local! Our tip is open 24/7, but only for locals. People with a garbage service & tip have no right using ours! $4 wouldn't have killed them!
