I just reported a driver of a 4WD who threw his LIT cigarette butt out the window onto the road in the MIDDLE OF THE BUSH!!! I am talking a narrow road surrounded by dry bush with shrubs growing onto the road. It was burning and smoking everwhere.
Seriously did we all not learn our lesson from Black Saturday? Not to mention the litter factor too.
The EPA website says the most likely consequence for the driver is the he will recieve an infringment notice, which I think is $275
Has anyone else reported someone before?
The site says that if he contests it and it goes to court, I would have to go as a witness.
But, I don't care, it's just not fair that someone can put everyone else at risk like that. It is still very, very dry here.
I have reported 2 people on different occasions to police.
The first one was a lady who was nursing a toddler on her lap (in the front seat) as they drove along the road I lost the car, but told the 000 operator their number plate.
The second was just the other day, a drunk loser was swaying all over the road, beeping his horn consistently and screaming god knows what to no-one in particular. I phoned 000 and it was just a coincidence that this was occuring about 500m down the road from the police station. Didn't take them long to find him.
Tanya and Boomber- I agree, it is totally yuck and disrespectful. It is not hard to dispose of your own rubbish, including butts thoughtfully. I feel a bit like a snitch, telling on someone to the teacher!!!
Good on you....just a question, how do they prove it ? How do you prove or the police prove it happened ??? The offender could well and truly deny the accusation....then what ??? Just interested.
Ive seen someone chuck a whole bag of maccas takeaway rubbish out the window...like my god, how hard is it to throw it in the bin when you get home.....
