    Re-homing a spider

I know this is going to sound weird, but its a serious question.
We have a gorgeous spider in our garden, thats been here since we moved here. We like her, she is our pet.
Today we are going to be removing the plants in her garden are replacing them with nicer ones. Do you think if we put her and her 3 egg sacks in a container and tried to put her back once we have finished the garden, she will stay there?

    hmmmm probably not.

Some spiders like particular plants for camouflage, nest building, even for the different insects they attract. Can you not just tidy up the plants that are there?

I guess there will be other spiders that you can claim as a pet but as I said different species prefer particular environments.

Ok I watch far too many doco's

Ah well its worth a try. The plant that is there is a perfect hiding place for snakes etc, and we dont really want a pet snake hanging around lol.

Give it a go. She will love you for moving her and not just ripping down her house with her in it

    Good luck!

Yeah we have a few of those too. We have started lobbing off the lower branches so the bushes are more like a mushroom shape iykwim. We get a lot of snakes here but they seem to steer clear of the house and surrounding garden, too many other nice quite places for them to hide in

Thanks. I hope it is successful, she is just beautiful - a golden orb spider. Im usually scared of spiders but where she is located is a very quiet corner of the garden where DD nor I go very often, so I dont mind her hanging around
