I'm another that thinks its a good start. Yes its been to long coming but its happened now. I hope its changes like this that will eventually lead to all couples being treated equally. It wont take long before these changes lead to common understanding that we are no different and when the "general public" view us as no different then more and more people will begin to question the government's stance on equal marriage. After all the government doesn't change laws- People change laws.

As for how the changes affect us? We are going into parenthood (or trying LOL) with a greater sense of security and confidence.

Because I have earned so little this year Sara and I both have a health care card and I believe We'll be a little better off at tax time because Sara can claim that I am a dependent spouse.

Also Sara is joining the Navy so some of these changes will make a huge difference down the track.
