How have you explained 'daddy' to your child?

    Hi all
Im just looking for some practical advice for friends of mine who recently had their son ask what a 'daddy' was. Im not privy to all the information surrounding his conception but I do know it was done using an anonymous donor while both were living in the UK. I was just wondering how others have coped with this issue in terms of sensitivity and putting it in terms of understanding (Max is 4 in September). I would love any feedback you might be able to offer.
    Ta Jen

Macca, we haven't reached that point yet!
Squishy is still in Tummy but there are lots of great books out there that explain 'your' family to children of same sex parents. Tell your friends to check out Hares & Hyena's website, just google the name and it should come up.
They are based in Victoria but have an amazing selection of kids 'gay friendly' books that explore that sort of thing in 'kidlanguage' and also books for the Mum's to help them deal with the questions.
Give that a go, I'm sure when some of the other les Mum's read this thread they will be able to answer it from their own experiences, but we seem to be a quiet bunch over the last few weeks!

Thanks Sally, I passed along the website to them, there is great stuff out there. I can see a few books I would get later on for DS who's uncle and godfather are both gay.

With My 2 year old. We have right from the start told him he has 2 mums! and no Dad. Often he will come up and tell us he has 2 mum's which i think is very cute. When Bayley is old enough to understand i will let him how he was made :-)
