hi mumiloo, we use a bear hug baby (BHB) ring sling. We also have an Infantino carrier, but mostly Shel uses that one and I use the sling. What about you?

Hi Lori ;)
Hi Mumiloo,
I love your term "milk mummy". I have heard women use the term "tummy mummy" before but not "milk mummy"... it's very cute.
Thanks for the welcome.
Lori
Hi everybody, :hello:
We are a couple of brand spankers, both to BB and to the TTC game.
Hope everyone is well and wishing lots of luck to all those on a TWW
Hi Leasha we mostly use an Ergo and before that a hug a bub (I love the hug a bub) and I have a ring sling too which I could never really get the hang of but have just started using at home again in the "hip carry" now that DS is a bit older, it seems useful for home when it's sort of like up-down, up-down etc. What position do you have Jaz in?
Lori ta DP came up with the milk mummy saying when we were introducing ourselves at an ABA meeting ;)
Hi Deb and Carlz good luck with TTC how are you TTC? (clinic, home, IVF or DI etc)
hi my name is majesta and i am a 25 year old single lesbian trying natural method. Just tyring to get some tips and information on best times to try and symptoms of early pregnancy. hope everyone is having a wonderful experience.
~j maj
Hi, I'm also 25, single and lesbian, but I went through a clinic - I tried a (semi)natural attempt my first go, then fell pg my fourth try through a clinic. You may want to look at the website Fertility Friend, it has some great information on figuring out your cycle and when you'll be most fertile. Best of luck with it :)
Hi majjie,
We are currently on our second TWW and slowly going insane. Early pregnancy symptoms very closely resemble that of PMS, so they are very easily confused and make that TWW just that bit more unbearable.
As for tips on when to try, I highly reccommend purchasing some ovulation prediction kits (OPK). These are very easy to use and, depending on which ones you choose, relatively inexpensive. OPKs will determine your two most fertile days to inseminate by giving you an indication of a "surge" of LH roughly 24 hours before you ovulate. Also, if you notice a clear, slimy discharge (like egg white) this is also a good indicator of your fertile time.
Good luck!
Leather and Lace - just noticed you live near a few of us, we have a meetup every Wednesday at Gloria Jean's in Morayfield... There are a few straight and lesbian mums with little babies, and myself too. I went before I fell pg too so that's not a requirement!! :) Details on https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ing-areas.html
Congrats on your little squeak!
Leasha told us about the local meet up on Wednesdays, we weren't able to make it last week though. Our jobs require us to get up really early in the morning so we were "nana napping", it was either that or prop our eyelids up with some toothpicks.
Hopefully one day we will get up there to meet you all.
Hi mumiloo,
When we are out I breastfeed in the sling unless my hip/back is playing up, but it is usually the hip carry or kangacarry on my belly. Shes actually in it right now cos shes sick and clinging so i just use it whenever lol. We have an infantino carrier but i dont like it as much as the sling.
;) we have booby mumma, Shel came up with that lol.
Hi, We are brand new to this, TTC #1 Feb 09, now Day 8 of the TWW. It is the longest 2 weeks of my life, with so many things I could be doing, but instead spend hours obsessing over how much longer we have to wait!
Anyhoo.. we live in Northern NSW, Lismore to be exact, and would love to get to know others on the same journey.
Hello :)
I was introduced to these forums from a friend who reccomended I sign up!
I am 27. my partner is 22, and we are hoping to start our journey to begin our family this year.
Not sure which way we are going at this stage, ai, with a donor, or through a clinic, all i know is that i cant wait to begin!!
we are from newcastle, nsw.
have 4 fur babies, and have been together 6 years :D
any other newcastle ss parents around?
Welcome Gx2!
This is such a great site for finding out useful information when TTC!
Good Luck with your TTC journey this year!
We are from Adelaide, but Newcastle is right up there with my most favourite places :)
Hey GX2,
We live in Great Lakes, but I work in Newie a few days a week. We're with Hunter IVF and just starting out on the IVF journey. I think there are a few gay parents in Newcastle and the Hunter - LOTL used to have ads for a social/support group for lesbian parents (or maybe it was through Rainbow Visions? can't remember).
Hunter IVF has a support group for "single" women (which apparently includes lesbians and their partners). We haven't been along to that yet, but plan to at some stage.
Good luck on starting your family!
Hi...my name is kia and my life partner and I successfully conceived a lovely babygirl due in may of 09
congratulations to you both maymommy. I bet you can wait!! its good to see another belybelly follower :)
take care
Hello to everyone!
I've been floating around the BB site for a while now and thought I'd better say Hi. I'm Bethany (22) and my partner Sara (25) have kinda been TTC since Dec 08. I say kinda because we should have started in Dec but the clinic was closed when we needed them (i missed out by 3 days thanks to my unpredictable cycle), then in Jan i had ne responce to the clomid (50mg) and didn't produce any follicles. We got 1 follicle in Feb, with 100mg clomid, did the IUI but got a BFN. We didnt try in march, the clomid makes me really sick and i wanted a break. And here we are in April, CD 13- I've had my Trigger shot and we're going in for the IuI tomorrow morning.:crossfingers:
Big Congratulations to MayMommy, not long to go now.
Thanks Two Mums for asking the question about birth certificates, I was planning on asking the same thing, We're in QLD.
Leasha where do you post the letters to? I'll start writting some too!
Good luck to everyone TTC and congrats to everyone who has gotten their BFP's!
Hi guys. :)
I just email them, go to the Qld Gov website :) Good luck for this cycle! Hope everyone gets their BFP this month!
SIZE="6"]Hi, my name is B.J and I am TTC my first child on my own with a donor! I have never found the right partner, male or female, and since I have never been with a man at age 38 (true!) with a few bad experiences in life (both female and male bashings/rapes), I'm finally ready and Im running out of time, (Therapy takes a lot of your life up indeed!) so now I have my Donor.
I will meet him on 28/4, due to Ov on the 1st May. I am trying to concieve a girl, so there is no point inseminating on Ov day, or it will more than likely be a boy!
I don't want to sound sex bias, but I will be bringing up baby alone, and girls seem to gel better with their single mums.:pinksperm:
I am scared, nervous, and fully aware of this huge life changing decision I have made, to bring a 'mini me' into the world and speaking in my artist's voice 'mould and sculpt' a beautiful, confident, well adjusted human being! Well TRY anyhow!
I don't know if it's wrong to want a child to mend a broken heart or if that idea would only cause one, in the grief that my life wasn't what I wished it to be, Uni degrees and all later, but you can have a go or die trying thats what I say! And there is already enough pre jugement in the world as we know in the Rainbow world' of Licorish all sorts, without having to justify the want of a child!
I was a bit confussed about the proceedure, I wrote to Rainbow babies and they didn't know the answer, but I've been told to 'put it (the sperm) in ASAP' as light, air and cool temp kills it off fast!
I am still a little upset that my Psych forced me to tell my GP sooner than i was ready, but its all out there now we know what we're up against, and what we have to do ...........
So, I take a HUGE gulp of breath and cross everything I can and hope it works. I think my donor is excited too, this is his first private donation outside the IVF clinic. Then the trick is to keep it there with my Diabetes the way it is!
goodluck bonanza and welcome!!
You're not the first to try this path BJ - there are at least another three single lesbians who are pg or ttc on here, including myself. There is support out there if you know where to look - try googling "SMCAustralia" all one word - the first link that comes up may be helpful. I still spend more time here to be honest though.
Thanks Shades! I've had confirmation from my donor and I am feeling so much better, and its nice to know I will have some support on here too! I guess in 16 days I'll know if its worked!
Best of luck - and you should probably take that pic in your sig down - it's a bit big for the forum guidelines...
Yep- It ok, I'm just fiddling to see how it all works! :D
Hello everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself since I am new to BB and TTC. I am Tish(29) and my partner is Cass(27). We have been TTC for a couple months now. The first cycle we went natural to see if I was ovulating and found out that I do not. The cycle we are in now has been very stressful. I started the Clomid 50mg on day 3 and had no response. Started Clomid 100mg on day 9 along with a water sono. Ultra sound showed that I had two mature eggs on day 14. On day 15 Cass gave me a shot to make me ovulate and yesterday, cd 17 we went in for the insemination (IUI). I am trying not to stress. I really want this to work on the first try.... it is very stressful and drawn out waiting on cycles and tests. We have to wait for 2 weeks to take a pregnancy test. I will have to be optimistic and hope for the best!
hello and welcome tish and cass (leah) there is a wealth of info and support here, so you have come to the right place to offload!! goodluck with it all I hope this cycle goes well for you both
Hello Tish and Cass. Welcome to BB.
We're TTW buddies! We did our IUI on friday. Just think, If your pregnant you will find out just befor mothers day- how special.
Hope all goes well for you, It can be very stressfull but you'll find heaps of support here.:grouphug:
Well, the test came back negative. It is cycle day 2 and we decided to jump right back in and try again. The doctor did change me from Clomid to Letrazol. I go in for an ultra sound to track my progress on the 19th. They still want me to use the trigger shot this cycle. I hope it works this time around. I'm not sure how much my body can take with all of the medicine. I have heard that the Letrazol has less side effects though.... we will see.
The next 5 days are going to drive me crazy! I've already had two episodes of uncontrollable crying. Mostly hurt over what my life could have been. A womens health nurse said to me on Friday it's highly unlikely I would have concieved because Its highly likely I have POCS! but if it is quote "Believe it or not it's really hard to make a baby"......how come there are so many peole in the world? Or is that just some phenomonon from when the world was younger?
So after a womens health nurse, a doctor at the Ed (read my other entries about the Doc stuff up) the Psychiatrist, the Diabetes nurse and every one else who have given me negatives and told me if I was I should terminate or I 'might' die......might isn't Will and shes not my doctor!..........I don't know why I just don't book myself in for a hysterectomy and make it final forever Amen and then I won't be ble to continue living in hope that one day it might happen!
Anyhow, Now I know why I've been so tired, I was getting the flu...great, I really want to spend the next week in bed.........maybe my flu shot months ago will ease it a little bit?????
But Imay as well enjoy this time while it lasts, because next week I will get my period and reality will set in!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, I'm Dani and my partner is Ivy. We're 21 years old, we've been together for four years and we are currently trying to become pregnant with our first child. We live in Maine, where gay marriage was just legalized a few weeks ago  and we are hoping to marry this september with a bun in the oven. I'll find out next week if the first attempt was any luck, and I get butterflies just thinking about it. I have a maternal itch going through me like nothing I've ever felt before. This is what I was born to do, and I can't wait to begin the journey.
hi Dani & Ivy,
Welcome to BB - Best of luck with your 1st TTC!
Which of you is going to be the birth mum?
Congrats on the legalised marriage! In Australia it is still very much a no-no - but we have had a commitment ceremony which is the next best thing :)
Thanks :D
I'm (Dani) going to be the birth mother. Ivy said the only time she would give birth herself is if I could not successfully carry a baby. So I guess lesbianism has its perks. ;)
Hi Everybody,
I am Lisa and my partner is Vickie. We live in Cairns, which is fairly well known for having a large gay and lesbian community. However, we are finding it really hard to get any information or help on how and where to start the whole sperm donor process. Does anybody have any ideas? All help would be greatly appreciated!!! :D
Hi there, Welcome aboard BB. Check out 'free sperm donations'
You join/subscribe and log into to the members area. Just create an alias hotmail or yahoo with your user name eg : Blinkybill@........com, then you can look at profiles on sperm donors all over Australia (& the World.). Just be vigilant as per normal internet safety protocol.
You need to be sure your donor is STD free, and free of genetic conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis. Some donate privatly on this ssite as they are already maxed out at the clinics (reached donation limit) so the benefit there is they have already been cleared
of nasties.
The Feminist Book shop will help you out with some excellent books.
Good Luck
BJ
Be aware though that just because they have previously been cleared by a clinic doesn't mean they are now and forever clear of STDs!
In my opinion (and experience) it is much safer medically and legally to go through clinic channels, unless you are very sure you can trust a stranger to get checked out to your satisfaction. It is more expensive to go through a clinic but I found the peace of mind to be worth the extra cost and more.
My clinic Queensland Fertility Group have a branch in Cairns, look them up in the Yellow Pages for more info. They can obtain donor sperm for you as well as handle the insemination procedures.
Hi everyone.. My name is Rachel and my parner is Tasman, we are from Adelaide and are coming up to our 3rd at home insemination attempt. I really thought it would be easy! I already have a 9year old who was a breeze to conveive. The doctor recently told me I have very low levels of progesterone which is'nt too good. But now he seems to think he took the blood on the wrong day (before I ovulated) so thats why it was low. hmmm!
We have a donor who we have known ages, he is great but lives in Darwin! Alot of travelling indeed. We have another friend who has recently come out of the Navy and is aware of all we have been going through, and has offered to donate to us! Which will mean swimmers on tap basically as he is here in Adelaide. So hopefully we will be able to try in the next month or two now! I am getting a little nervous as most couples I know of have fallen pregnant on their first attempt, lucky much! So fingers crossed this time.
Rach & Tas
Hi :) I'm Fiona (33) and my partner is Hope (23). I'm already a mum to 3 from my previous marriage and we're looking to have a baby of our own. We're still in England at the moment (relocating in the next 3 months) so it'll be a year before we start our journey on the IVF rollercoaster.
Hi everyone, I have just joined we are about to embark on our first AI this cycle! Just looking to meet people...particularly anyone who may be in Sydney areas. Look forward to the chats x x
hello and welcome Jules & Ali, we are in NSW but not in sydney. Are you ttc with a known donor or anon? I wish you both all the best on your journey.
hello Rach and Tas, welcome also, you will find some great support here, goodluck with ttc :)
